Item shipped to the wrong person and address

I purchased an item and when I received it, it wasn't what I bought. Contacted the seller, said they would make it right but I've been on vacation until now. The seller wants me to send the wrong item to the person who has my item, and they will send me mine. The seller says that they will reimburse us the shipping, not a problem. What happens if I don't receive my item? What should I do? I've no reason not to trust all is well, mistakes happen thanks
