Ok so I started out by selling "Jailbroken" amazon firesticks on ebay with a build that may of allowed someone who wanted to search for media that may or maynot of been paid services. I got a notice that I could not sell them since "You listed devices that appear to offer free access to paid services" thus violating their copyright policies. Ok so I did not know I was violating ebay policy since a lot of other people are selling them on ebay. Ok I now understand that I can not sell a product that may be able to offer free access to paid services. So I decided I would not put an build on to Kodi and I would leave off Mobdro all together since the build may or may not be able to access paid services if someone search for them and same with Mobdro. What I was offering for sale was a firestick in which I did open only to install Kodi which is a free and open-source media player software application. I did not install a build on Kodi nor did I place any copyrighted matieral on to the firestick. Like I said I only installed Kodi and was leaving it up to the buyer what they wanted to do with Kodi since you can play tons of legal streams from it and even organize your own media collection with it. In no way was it allowing free access to paid services. I even state this in the listing:
"This item in its current State DOES NOT contain any copyrighted material nor does it give you access to copyrighted material or offer free access to paid services and/or material thus not violating ebay policy. I nor this device should not be interpreted to be violating this policy. I nor this device should not be interpreted to be encouraging violating any copyright laws or offering free access to paid services. It is up to the end user on how this device is used and by submitting an offer or clicking buy now the individual agrees it is his/her responsibility."
So I post my listing up again and now I get a notice that my selling privileges have been temporarily restricted:
Copyright Violation-unauthorised Item.
Due to copyright concerns information that encourages or enables duplication of copy-protected material isn't allowed on eBay. Information that encourages or enables circumvention of copyright protection also isn’t allowed on eBay
You listed devices that appear to offer free access to paid services. Please ensure these items aren't relisted going forward
Ok so my item does not give access to copyrighted matieral unless the buyer set it up to do so since it is just Kodi nothing else. It is a Media player. This would mean I could not sell anything that had a media player or even a web browser on it since I could then type in an address to go to a stream that gave me free access to a paid service. But yet I see tons of product that do this. Computers, tablets, laptops, phones, etc etc. the list keeps going on and on.
So my question is why was my item taking off and my account restricted for having this item for sale? I can understand the product with the build on it but with just a media player on it (nothing else) basic install of Kodi 17.4 why? why can people list computers and so on and I cant sell the firestick with an open source media player on it?
