I still haven't received the item back

The buyer said something was wrong with the item I sold. (I disagree but offered to refund if it was sent back.)
Ebay sent him a label and gave him a week to send the item back.
It's been 10 days since his date to send it back but I still have not received it or any tracking indicating he did so.
When will Ebay close the case?
I can't find any answers and there are no options to contact EBay.
It's not fair for them to keep this hanging - he had  deadline and didn't comply with it.
I honestly think he was trying to get me to just refund him so he would get a free item, as the item I sold him was brand new, still in the package.
