I don't get the point of the on-site notifications (Bell Icon)

As a buyer I get notifications when I bid on something (which seems redundant since I just bid on that thing) when I'm out-bid (makes sense) when a new product in a saved search is listed (also makes sense) and when I get a message.

As a seller I only get notifications when the auction is over and I'm supposed to ship it. Why do I not get any notification when something gets bid on? Only emails. Is there a reason for this?
