How long does it take to resolve a return request and money is released?

A buyer bought two items from me, in different sizes.  I must assume that the buyer didn't read that they must measure their dog first before purchasing and was winging it in hopes one would fit.  They opened a return request without contacting me first, which just confirms my suspicion.  Anyhow, she opened it on 9/26.  I immediately responded with a question.  they never responded.  The next day, I asked another question, never responded.  I accepted the request on the 28th because obviously I have a poor buyer that lacks in the ability to communicate.  When I accepted, a hold was placed on BOTH items she purchased, even though they only want to return one item.  Anyhow, it is now october 12th and I still dont have the return, no tracking has been uploaded and my money for BOTH items are still being held.  How long is ebay going to keep my money tied up? Ridiculous
