A buyer opened a case for a return because it was Wrong Size/Doesn't Fit (without ever contacting me first). I immediately approved the return through eBay. The eBay message said, "We have asked your buyer to return item by July 30th." According to the eBay shipping timeline, the item has NOT EVEN BEEN SHIPPED BACK yet and it is Aug 5th. My question is this: do I just wait and leave the case open, wondering if the buyer will ever return it? I am not obligated to refund if I don't have the return...so what's my next move? Is there a certain length of time before eBay will automatically close the case? Is there a length of time I should wait before asking customer service to close the case or will they just leave it open forever in hopes the buyer will eventually send it back?
I can't seem to find any definite answers for these particular questions anywhere. Help please! 🙂
You have to wait for the buyer to return the item OR close the case.
If the buyer doesn't send the item back or close the case, it will close on its own thirty (30) days after it was opened.
If you want to call eBay on or around day 28, it's possible that you can get the case closed a little earlier.
