How do I ask a seller to send me an invoice

While in an active buy it now listing, I sent a seller a message and asked if he we would offer free shipping. He agreed and asked me to request an invoice from him during the process of buying the item. I could not find anywhere where I could do this. When you hit confirm and pay button it automatically completes the sale. If I add to my cart there is a request an invoice from seller but you need to have multiple items in your cart to use that feature. Does the buyer have an option to request an invoice from the seller while in an active buy it now scenario?

If you hit confirm and PAY then you paid for the item and shipping.  

You needed to 

1. Go to My eBay.

2. Click “Purchase History”

3. From the "More Actions" menu next to the item, select "Request total"

4. Enter message details to clarify why you're requesting the total

5. Click "Continue" to send the request

Then the seller could've sent you an amended invoice with 0 shipping.
