Every few months this bothers me. Creating a listing, why under "calculate shipping", under eBay rates for large envelope is USPS first class offered for $1 or $2? But after the sale when you go to purchase that shipping label only first class package is offered. I just sold and shipped an item; the purchase shipping label site said " buyer selected first class package for $4.75." But the buyer only paid $2.75 for first class envelope which isn't a shipping label option for me, the seller, to purchase.
Yes I offered shipping via first class envelope because eBay offered me that option with a listed price of $2.75. Along with all the other USPS options. The button at the top of the page is clicked to eBay rates.
Again, when creating the listing - large envelope - it is offered under EBAY RATES as a STANDARD shipping option with an eBay rate$
Would a restaurant menu say Hamburgers $5.00 and then say we don't sell hamburgers? I feel better for venting.

You can offer the large envelope, also called a flat, and you can ship that way using stamps or paying at the post office.
You can't print a label for a large envelope because it does not include tracking. When you go to print the label, it defaults to the closest service, which is the first class package. The buyer can only select what you offer, so the message is very misleading.
I do wish eBay would stop defaulting to anything, and just give you a message explaining that you offered a service for which you can not print a label. But then, they want you to print a label with tracking, so I can understand their reluctance.

Its reminiscent of the Seinfield routine about rental car reservations and there's no car.
