Entering an item description

When entering an item to sell on eBay, I used to write the item description in word and then copy the word document into the description area and  everything looked good.   Now since the template has changed when I copy in the word document, then preview the listing, the description lines are jammed together, some partially overlaying others.  Also now when copying the document into the description area, extra characters that look like HTML characters are added at the end of each line, but I'm in the standard editor.

Does one have to type the  description into the selling template?

Thank you.

Since ebay made the changes to the selling format for active listing content it seems to not like the word copy and paste.  I suggest just using the listing form.

Keeping it simple is better too.  Keep in mind that many buyers now use cell phones.  So lots of different text or colors are not a good idea.

If you're not familar with templates give them a try if you are re-using info.

You can also use inserts when you use the advanced listing tool and then insert the same text... say you have "boiler plate"  section for terms on shipping payment etc... you can use an insert for that.

Use the advanced listing tool. When you click on the sell tab, upper right hand corner on a pc, you should see a "use advanced listing tool" option OR it may also say "use form with more choices" .
