I recently sold a graded baseball card shipped and buyer sends pic of package ripped and the casing of the card broke. Was looking at the pics and noticed the card was still in great shape. I accepted his return but he had to send the card back. Next day they cancel the return. I feel like they where hoping I’d just return they’re money and not worry about getting the item back. Kinda feels shady. So today a buyer sends a return request saying the cards where ripped out of the envelope. He sent pics of torn envelope but I could see them well. One pic was a letter from post office saying sorry for the damaged mail. I messaged him saying sorry this happened and asked him if he could resend the pics. He’s never responded back. Kinda catching the same vibes as the last one. Any advice on shipping in the future to protect myself better?

This seems like the USPS conveyors are snagging and eating your envelopes. Are you using bubble envelopes? Are the envelopes too floppy or sloppy? Does the item slide around in the envelope? If so, fold and tape the envelope so it won't snag.
If the item is higher value, ship in a box instead of an envelope. USPS first class package is by weight and zone, so a box may cost the same as an envelope to ship.
