Buying a Car

What do you do when a seller calls you to sell their car outside of eBay and then you try to cancel because you don't trust them and its to late to cancel but you win bid and loss trust about the truth about the listing of the car? no money has been paid but i don't want the car and seller is mad. I don't want to report him unless i have to,i hate to get him in trouble,but he is trying to make me pay for listing 295.00 dollars.What should i do? It would have save a little money if i had made the deal outside of eBay,but it makes me fell that they are not honest.
