Buyer wants item shipped to a different address than what's listed

When I tried to ship item to buyer, USPS sent item back saying the apartment complex was not receiving packages because storage boxes were broken into. Buyer doesn't know when storage boxes will be repaired and said he was visiting his parents next week and wants item shipped there.

What should I do?

Q1. Can I ship to new address without buyer changing his mailing address on ebay? I do have back and forth conversations recorded on ebay.

Q2. Do I wait to ship until mail boxes/storage boxes are repaired ?

You can not/should not change the address - you will lose the seller protection against a not received claim. Let the buyer know that to change the address, you must cancel his purchase and relist the item for him to purchase again with the correct address.

His PO must be holding their packages for pickup, so he could also just pick up when he returns. The PO should hold them for 10 - 14 days.
