Are people using software to automatically bid at the last second with no effort?

I’m curious here if there are buyers running bots to wait until the last millisecond to bid on an item while they do nothing. I was bidding on an item and down to the last few seconds I placed a bid for 41.51 seamed like a good amount to kick out the highest bidder, well it did I was high bid, for like half a second or so and then it rose by like 6 other bids, faster than someone could click a price and hit a button.

if this software exists, how do you use it? It would be nice to just put an odd max bid in that would be a tad bit over what I’d consider paying, say like by an extra 1.23 just to throw off people entering in solid dollar amounts.

seems like bidding on something is kind of useless now, I haven’t done it in YEARS and it used to be you just watched it and put a bid you felt was reasonable in, watched it and went just a little higher if desired if someone topped you.

i could see some sense in it if some other buyer was willing to pay 100 bucks for it and was just ready to click at the last second but it doesn’t make sense for me to get high bid with one second remaining for like .3 seconds, maybe my connection was different than others and time syncing was off who knows

i just don’t see a point on bidding on something when others are interested unless I can just have something try to win it for me right at the last second since others seem to be faster at this than me or are doing exactly what I’m talking about.

how I love the buy it now option, wish more would do this, sad part is the thing I was bidding on was a lot of 10 records or so and I only cared about one that nobody would have even known who it was but were bidding on the others I could care less about lol!
