Allowable characters password

Hello, can anyone direct me to password character rules?

While trying establish eBay password, I'm repeatedly told I'm using a character that isn't permitted. It doesn't tell me which characters aren't permitted.

Looked everywhere here, haven't found password rules.

I think all the characters that are shifted numbers on the top row of the keyboard are OK, but I do not have an authoritative source to confirm this.
