After An Item Sells, Why Do I Have to "End" the item to Remove it from Inventory?

If one of my items sells, for some reason the item doesn't remove itself like it used to from my list of items for sale.  The item is sold and I no longer have another item like it.    A message pops up about seller fees being charges and a date it was ended:   The item number (153427075273) closed on May-15-19 at 16:22:43 PDT.   That's not correct, Item 153427075273  SOLD on May-15-19 earlier in the day. 

 

When I went in to check the status of the item, I received the message   "You ended this listing by indicating this item is no longer available."     It's know longer available because it sold.   I can see in PayPal where the item was sold, client paid, I purchased postage.   The item is packed awaiting pickup now. 


 Is there a setting I need to change or someone I should call? This is not the first time this has happened.    The last thing I need is more fees.
