Is this an old oil can / pitcher?

Just curious if anyone knows what this is.  I think it might be an old oil pitcher but it doesn't really look like others I have seen, and it's unusually heavy for its size (almost 3 pounds).

How tall and what's the diameter?  My first thought based on 3lb is a lead pot but .....

Good size for a lead melding pot or as someone said candle wax.  I don't know why you would need one that heavy for candle wax but sure could be..

I say it's a lead pot.  I had one very similar.

No it is not a lead melting pot. The handle is all wrong and the spout is too sharp

If you look at antique lead melting pots and antique wax melting pots you’ll see more similar versions of wax.

Its thick because they over engineered everything years ago. Why everything lasted so long

My neighbor who is 86 years old thinks this is a milk can from between 1820 and 1850.

He grew up farming.

Might look at that idea as well
