pardon me if this has already been mentioned here, but if not, please be sure to sign the petition on A&A asking ebay to more the indexing modification that makes revised auctions appear as newly listed at the top of the newly listed queue. Well, maybe this is a good place to ask this. I've seen people talking about this problem before and I just don't get it. I find that I am often revising my auctions because I think of something I should have added or decide I need to change. I'm not doing it out of any reason other than to have the best listings I can have, but I don't know how anyone else would know that. Am I on someone's "bad list"? PJ

i sometimes revise mine, but i hadn't a clue this put listings in the "newly listed" category. oops.

I read the whole thread about this... and it doesn't work for everyone... only sellers who just opened a new eBay account and are listing using the "Featured" or "FP" upgrade. It seems there's some sort of technical glitch... and when these sellers revise their listings... they go back to the top of the "Featured" listings... just as if the item was newly listed. So... if they constantly revise their listings... they're constantly kept on the front page... which pushes newer listings to the back. They're manipulating the search results and cheating other sellers out of their chance on the front page... and eBay isn't doing a darn thing about it... it's been going on since March! everyone revises their auctions from time to time, but some sellers are apparently even using a program that auto-revises every 11 minutes! if you want to have a look at the problem, go to the art category, especially contempo american and make sure it's set to Newly Listed (which is the default). Look on the first page that comes up, click on any auction that has a bid & see what day it was actually listed. The few times I've checked 2-3 painters are always at the top of that page, everyone else paying $20 for FP is on page2-3 or ever further back almost instantly after they list. It does impact non-FP per it would still push you further back in the regular listings under newly listed if someone is constantly revising. the good news is that the petition got picked up by auctionbytes: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y08/m01/i14/s03 other boards are talking about the problem and I understand the raw artist has web site about it. Hopefully something will be done. Please sign the petition (link at top of this thread) if you haven't already.

Thanks Jen... and I can't believe the "Morality Police" in the main eBay discussion thread... telling artists not to be upset with each other... I finally went on a rant and told them I was tired of listening to them tell everyone who to be mad at and how to feel about this very volatile issue.
