I purchased a standup paddle board (SUP) new for a price that is less than 50% of other identical products. I was in such a rush to purchase (wife's birthday gift) that I didn't notice the seller was brand new to eBay. I paid for the item immediately and realized I was having it sent to my home (not where I wanted it). Before receiving the eBay confirmation I sent a request to the seller to send it to the right address. I did not receive a shipping notice and after about 4 days sent a note to the seller asking for a shipping number or to cancel the order since I suspected they didn't actually have the item. Shortly thereafter I did get a UPS shipping confirmation. I monitored the progress and the item (10'6" !!) was delivered to our condo according to UPS notice. When I went looking for it (2 hrs later) there was no sign of it anywhere, and nobody in the building saw a UPS delivery or package. I contacted the seller and asked for all the required info to file a claim with UPS (ship from, dimensions, date shipped, etc.). I received a response that they had "provided the wrong shipping number". That doesn't make sense, and I've told them so.
I realize there are lots of scams today and feel I've been subjected to one here, but can't figure out the UPS confirmed delivery. If anyone can explain this (Covid-19 is not an acceptable excuse 😠 ) I would appreciate your thoughts.
Have a Happy 4th of July.

You might be able to take the tracking number to UPS and UPS may be able to tell you that the package was not addressed to you. For privacy reasons, UPS will not disclose the actual delivery address. If you can get this in writing from UPS, you may be able to contact CS and have CS open an item not received case based on the UPS letter.
Don't hold your breath waiting for a successful outcome. This is a not uncommon scam and it is very tough to get a resolution in your favor.
Remember, haste makes waste and if it's too good to be true...

@strategic_bob The scam is the seller uses a tracking number to your area, which isn't for the item you actually purchased. The return system is all automated. If you open a case for item not received, the seller will upload the bogus tracking which will show it was delivered. So you will lose your case.
What you need to do is contact UPS yourself and get a letter from them with the dimensions, weight, and actual location of where the item was delivered. Use that written info and contact eBay using social media. You can use their Facebook account at eBay for business and send a message with all the details and your letter from UPS. At that time they can access the messages from the seller where they admit to providing you an incorrect tracking number. You need to get on this quickly and remember you only have one opportunity to open a case with eBay. Best of luck to you....
