Shipping

Hi!  I was wondering how others handle high priced items. Example something that’s $400 or $500 or more. Do ship priority signature required or just the standard shipping.  Thank you.

Re: Shipping

Depends on what you are selling. Yes, Priority Mail is good because it should get there quickly. You don't have to get a signature for that amount, but you could. Just make sure you put it in the description  that a signature will be required.  If you are selling high end electronic items like Apple products no amount of precautions can prevent a scam. Especially if you are a new seller.

Re: Shipping

If you ship USPS and insure for $400 or more signature conformation is required. I've never found a difference Ground Advantage vs. Priority wrt expensive vs. inexpensive. For fragile items Priority is supposed to involve less handling but my sense is that if items are packed securely it doesn't make a difference.

Re: Shipping

Priority Mail is garbage, it won’t get there faster or get special treatment. Don’t fall for it. I don’t add signature confirmation unless the value after tax is $750 or more. If using usps, ship it ground advantage. If the total with tax comes to $750 or more add the signature confirmation. Otherwise, don’t.

Re: Shipping

I personally would do Priority with a signature.  It gives any package the respect it deserves to an honest buyer.  It's important to remember a buyer can still claim INAD even if you do overnight shipping.

Never sell anything you can't afford to lose.

Re: Shipping

@sangu4772

I do not ship any expensive items via USPS. I use UPS Ground for all the expensive stuff. I only require a signature on transactions over $750 in ~most~ cases.

I sometimes require a signature if the shipment is going to a high rise office building. UPS is the way to go with the expensive shipments.

I would go UPS, usps is to unreliable for something this expensive, USPS insurance is a joke and would have been shut down years ago for fraud if it were not gov operated.

USPS will let a item sit somewhere for 3 weeks then after you are forced to refund they will go ahead and deliver it and call it a successful delivery

Re: Shipping

If you can't afford or can stand the loss of an item that expensive, then selling it for cash, face to face is the only real option.

If a buyer is so inclined and wise enough, ANY item can be scammed from a seller. Sig confirmation, priority, etc., none of that matters or means anything.

While scams and theft are rare, it still happens. And way more often then folks want to actually say. Certain items are more prone to it than others. And higher priced items are certainly more likely a target of scamming. The money and potential sale here seems appealing, until the first time you get scammed. Then it's not very appealing anymore. I would rather have 50 bucks I can keep then the 100 bucks I am forced to give back when scammed.
