Search function changes during Dec

What genius at eBay decided the holiday season was a good time to make changes to how buyers search for items? Amazing to me that this was not done in January.

eBay previously promised to not make major site changes in fourth quarter a few years back I think.  Typical empty promises from eBay though.

Must be a why wait to mess things up next year kind of decision.

What changes? I haven't noticed anything different when I've got my buyers hat on.

It's terrible 😩  They've changed the search function and gone the way of Amazon. The best thing about Ebay was that it would show you what you asked for.  Ask for Hotbin hits and you Hotbin. Now it gives results relating to Hot and Bin and all sorts of assorted crap. This is next to useless. I don't want a search for a specific branded, named item to throw up results for light bulbs and toy cars. Ebay were doing so well. It saved so much time not having to trawl through dross. The Amazon function is entirely useless. Are the changes helpful?

Nooooooooooo!  Ebay, please get serious about user experiences. Please change it back.

A search for hotbin currently gives me exactly one result.

Assuming you tried to search before that single item listing appeared, you might wind up with no exact results; when eBay finds no results for a particular search, eBay often tries to find results matching fewer terms or else near matches if you are only using one search term to start with. That can provide odd results.

If you want only results that match your exact term with no substitutions or variations, try putting your search term in quotes, like this:
