The picture is lying on its side. I was trying to find a way to rotate it and post it correctly, but I couldn't, so I didn't make a second experimental post.
It's a shot of a squat-style toilet in Nepal. I posted it in a Biddie thread; someone had asked which way you hang your toilet paper. Over-the-top or coming from the bottom. I posted this shot because I wanted to show that in some cultures, the question about toilet paper is irrelevant — they don't use TP.
Notice the little blue bucket at the top (or what would be the left if the picture were oriented correctly)? I didn't even see it until a co-worker from Pakistan pointed it out to me when I was showing him my vacation photos.
Apparently, you use your bare hand to clean yourself after using the toilet. You fill the bucket with water, scoop out the Klingons, rinse off your fingers and repeat until squeaky clean. Then you wash your hands in the normal manner, using a sink outside the toilet stall.
Most places in Nepal give you a choice between western-style and squat toilets, but this in was a small village and I didn't have that option. Fortunately, I didn't need toilet paper... and besides, I always carry tissue with me in my camera bag. You know, for wiping off my lenses or whatever.
