eBay's Managed Payments program.

Ebay is asking for information that even the online bank ING doesn't ask for.

Wary of sending electronic copy of ID because even the NSA has been hacked. There is zero assurance that Ebay will not be hacked and my ID not sold on the dark net. No mention from Ebay to retention policy of photo ID.  What if I move? Would have to give ID info again in the future?

Re: eBay's Managed Payments program.

Why eBay is asking for all the following legal documents that no other business ever asks?  I wonder what if eBay gets hack or perhaps changing their business into a scam business / American greedy / never knows that eBay may use our information for "Cancel Culture", track us down, hack our funds, sell our information, etc.?  Who's in the world is requesting this kind of legal documents?  I will take my business somewhere else then........

 1) provide a photo ID (such as a passport or  drivers license/state ID).

2) recent bank statement so we can verify your bank details.
3) Full legal name and the ID number

4) Date of birth

Additionally, the document you provide needs to:
• Be current (not expired)
• Be in color
• Contain the full document with no part of the document obscured or cropped
• Contain the complete MRZ code (if providing a passport)
• Contain Front and Back of the ID document (if providing driver's license/State ID)
• Be an official government-issued ID document
Also, please upload a bank statement that:
• Includes the name and address of the account owner or business entity
• Includes the bank's name
• Lists the bank account number (at least the last 4 digits) and matches the bank account number on file with eBay
• Is less than 3 months old (if providing a dated document)
• Includes transactional activity

Re: eBay's Managed Payments program.

I have been with eBay for over 10 years and never have any issues with the bank routing numbers, bank payments, or anything else so why eBay is requesting this information now?  I DON'T TRUST EBAY when they said that they are going to use the information to verify our accounts. They always have the upper hand of holding our funds.

EBay has already verified our accounts a long time ago before they allowed us to buy or sell on eBay so WHY ARE THEY ASKING FOR IT NOW? "If it's not broke, don't fix it!" I have a BAD feeling when I saw this kind of request from eBay.   I want to know what exactly they are planning to use our information for?

@inkmonster07

It has to do with the Federal Anti Money Laundering Laws.  They require certain steps for confirming identity now.  This are different than they were a few years back.

Because Ebay has completely changed how sellers will get paid.  We can no longer use PayPal as our money processor.

Ebay's process of verifying sellers when we first sign up years ago are completely different from this and laws have changed since then too.

The following links are very informative and easy to read. Lots of great information in these articles that contain information you should be aware of. After you read them you will likely have questions. Come on back and ask whatever you need to.
