This is one of our 5 buying accounts on eBay....We started WAY before this...In my day, we used to rub STICKS together to make sparks, to make the internet work.

Since the second month it was in operation. LOL, I remember my husband brought home a computer and set it up. I never heard of the internet and he got on it using dialup. I remember thinking "this will never catch on" and then I discovered Ebay and Amazon.
Ebay didn't have pictures then and at first everything was great. However I ended up being scammed by a seller and ebay just shrugged it off. I was off ebay for a while, returned--got scammed. I left again. I didn't return until Paypal started taking credit cards. The next time I was scammed, I just did a chargeback.

I've only had this ID a few weeks.  It was easier to open a new account than try to change all my info after I moved.

I signed up in August 1996 - been selling ever since-- does anyone else remember auctionweb only accepting 500 listing per hour. The timer started on the hour and would last about 10-15 minutes until the 500 auction limit was reached. Of course this was all via dial-up and no photos.

December 21, 1996 for me.  In the first year or so I sold an Edison Phonograph to a buyer in Italy.  It was a pretty scary deal since this was all so new.  I had the money wired into my bank account before I would ship it.  I crated it up in our shop, dropped the crate on the floor a few times with the lid open to make sure nothing moved or could break, sealed up and sent it on it's way.  It had to ship to some remote area in Italy.  When the buyer got it his response was "it could have fell off the back of the truck and survived". 

I haven't sold much over the years but I have shipped vintage phonographs and vintage boat motors and yet to have a claim!
