Watch Returned as Not Running - But When Return Opened, Watch Was Running Perfectly - What To Do?

We sold a watch to a buyer and the description said "Watch Runs".  We do not take returns.  When the buyer got the watch, she said the watch was not running and that the Ebay guarantee should apply.  We said that she could return it based upon that claim.  When we received the watch back and opened the box, it was running perfectly.  We have videos of it running perfectly.

What do we do now?  We have not yet returned the money.

What do you do? Refund the buyer. Relist the item.

Be lucky you got your item back, some don't.

Refund and relist.

Refund buyer, relist the item....and block the buyer from future purchases.

Refund and relist.  There isn't anything else you can do.  Buyers lie all the time to get around the "no returns" policy and paying for return shipping.  You are much better off accepting returns.  One day you are going to get hit with an INAD claim and eBay will refund them without returning the item.  No returns means just that and that only, no returns.  It does not mean no refunds.  Big difference.

In no particular order, refund and thank your lucky stars the buyer didn’t damage the item or return a box of rocks.

No one asked, but I am looking forward to the day when having feedback default sorted by relevance seems right.

Your buyer has now put the ball back in your court. Refund promptly, because if you drag your feet and blow the deadline for refunding (now that tracking shows the watch has been delivered back to you), eBay is going to step in and do it for you. You do not want eBay to intervene like that, as they will keep their Final Value Fees and put an Unresolved ding on your record, which can be quite damaging.

Refund promptly, and eBay will credit your FVFs back to you when the buyer gets their payment back.

You have no real option now but to bite your lip and refund.  In the future you may want to consider offering a return policy which covers remorse and the buyer pays the return shipping.  If someone really really wants to return, many will make up a reason if you do not offer returns.

EBAY Money Back Guarantee (supersedes "no returns" policy) allows customer to return item by  claiming "not as described, counterfeit, defective (you will be forced to refund purchase price + shipping BOTH ways.   EBAY does NOT require customer to "prove their claim" and always rules in favor of the customer.

If you refuse to issue refund before deadline...EBAY will "do it automatically' and you will get a defect on your account for not following policy.  Don't bother trying to appeal...you will lose case and get defect on your account.

When you have "no returns policy" customer can get around by using EBAY Money Back Guarantee.   Sometimes it is better to allow returns...at least this way is customer opens "buyer's remorse" claim (they are responsible for all shipping costs).

Sorry this happened to you...

What to do now? Refund. That's your only option.

You can't have your watch and the buyer's money.

@4meca

If you were the buyer, what would expect the seller to do? Refund in full and then relist it.

Oh... as you found out, just because you don't "offer" returns, doesn't mean are "no returns"

Offer 30 day returns, buyer pays.
