And around and around it goes...

Now I'm not blaming ebay for this. And 999 times out of 1000 the post office doesn't do this, so this time it's just that our 'number' came up.

This was sent to Brooklyn - shot right past it - second try came oh so close ... now on it's way back for the third try.  My guess is it will next land in Connecticut before making it to a house in Brooklyn that I most likely walked past oh so many years ago.

Not as bad as the shipment on other account five months ago - New Mexico to Bend Oregon - If we had checked the tracking that night would have noticed something was wrong, as it went to TX instead of AZ ...Two stops in TX then off to San Fran, then L.A... then backward to Riverside ... then back to San Fran ... then four days later it's in ANCHORAGE - then Spokane - then Chicago before finally his house 48 days late. Luckily the buyer understood.

And USPS wonders why it is always broke....and raising rates. Ya, we have all had this happen and makes no sense. I like the ones that say the package is somewhere 1000 miles away and then gets a delivery scan the same or next day.....figure that one out.

@steve_stuff ,

What's wrong with taking the scenic route?

@steve_stuff

I have a friend who lives in Brooklyn and she told me that particular postal outlet is a nightmare.  They are short handed and over worked.  Very similar to my post outlet I use.  Filled many complaints for non delivery.  They simply don't show up.

Happy New Year, Steve.

I believe you hit the nail on this...they do not have the resources to make the delivery so they toss it on an outbound truck. They must have some sort of metrics that it tricks it to not dock them for the missed delivery....

OP

Actually the PO has been messing up quite a bit the last few months - Found the tracking for another one using the PO tracking page. This is the one that went to Alaska, the Bend one 'just' went to Washington first.

And Steve retired and sold us employees the place, so now I'm the boss ... or one of the four bosses.

I'm in the same boat. I had a package that normally would travel 300 miles west to Pittsburgh. Instead, USPS decided it should hang a left and take a scenic route south, and then back north.

I'm tracking a purchase I made on the 29th from Midland, MI.  The tracking shows USPS in possession of the item a full hour BEFORE the shipping label was created with 'USPS awaits item'.  Go figure.

If you have used USPS for any length of time you should know that we have all been there.

OP

Well it got there yesterday - We like how it arrived in Philadelphia on the 31th, was "In Transit to Next Facility" on the first and then was 'Processed Through' Philadelphia on the second.

And shouldn't it be 'out for delivery' and then 'arrived at unit'

Reminds me of the old joke - guy wanted to swim the english channel. Within sight of France he gets a cramp and decides he won't make it so turns around and go back to england.

If it makes you feel any better, i've  had tracking TWICE as long as that.

The package always seems to get there eventually.

I'm in Colorado and had a package destined for New Hampshire, USA.  Made it to NH in a timely manner but was then returned to me for "insufficient International postage."    I showed it to the PO clerk.  They apologized and said let me send it through again for you.  He did send it through but evidently didn't realize that it needed new postage because the original was "used" / rejected and couldn't be used again.  SO - the package came back to me again because the postage was not valid.  Took it BACK to the PO and they resent it again with new postage stamp on "their dime".   Made it to the buyer so, evidently, New Hampshire is part of the US again!
