I have the opportunity to purchase a set of dinnerware, all unmarked but appears quite old of white porcelain dinnerware with black and gold decor of various birds and tree branches. Shown is the water pitcher. Sponge Gold on rims. No idea who made it or pattern.

Please post a picture of the bottom.  Even unmarked, what the bottom looks like can give clues as to a maker.

bird and branch patterns were very popular in the late 19th century.  the design is based on Japanese design which was picked up by many english and other  potteries.  are you sure it is porcelain? is it translucent?

Hi, I will get a picture of the bottom soon. The china is fairly thick, not translucent. The pitcher did have some impressed markings.

The owner decided to keep the dishes, so could not buy. Believe it was ironstone. Thank you for your answers.
