IF MY GOLD JEWLERY IS MARKED WITH A 750 IS THAT SOLID 18K GOLD

I HAVE A COUPLE PIECES OF GOLD JEWLERY THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SELL, BUT I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I AM SELLING BEFORE I DO SO. ONE OF THE PIECES HAS 750 MARKED IN A BOX THEN IT ALSO HAS CM IN A CIRCLE THEN IN ANOTHER SPOT IT SAYS 336V1. THE NEXT PIECE HAS A 750 MARKING THEN THERE IS ANOTHER MARK 62 THEN ANOTHER MARKING AR. THERE IS ALSO A GOLD CHAIN THAT HAS A 750 MARK AND ALSO A 13V1 MARK. IS THERE ANYONE THAT CAN TELL ME WHAT ALL THIS MEANS?
THANK YOU,

They sound like 18k, those other number marks are often seen on Italian jewery and are makers marks that are registered with that government for tax purposes.

Think it might mean 75% purity, therefore is 18k 75% of 24k gold?

yep, miner is correct. 750 translate to 750/1000, 1000 being 100%. So yes, 750 should be 18kt.

***!! May not be "solid", just all 18k gold.

That's another long story, in short, it could be hollow, but still all 18k, doubtful, but it does happen.

A hollow gram of 750 gold item weighs the same as a gram of solid 750 gold.

Hi cyn,

well, a gram wieghs a gram, so yes. A hollow piece will just seem to the eye to be much larger, bigger, but still wiegh the same gram wieght. Eyes can be fooled, scales sorta tell you the truth. A gram is a gram. No matter what it looks like.

My necklace says both 18K and 750.

However it has both a lovely twisted gold chain with  freshwater pearls every inch apart along the gold chain.

How do you get a weight when it is this way?

Thank you.

Best you can probably do w/o removing the pearls is estimate. Measure the diameter & search for a weight range. If you were selling for scrap you could let the buyer make their own estimate (and probably expect the low one).
