Brooch marked 915. Is this a purity mark?

I found this brooch today marked 915, its gold tone for the most part with silvery cut outs on the front.

Is 915 a silver purity mark? Ive had several gold washed pieces that were marked 925 is the only reason Im asking.

Sounds like an old english silver-copper alloy to me. Could it be?

I would consider that. Ive been told it may be a Spanish silver mark as well.

Thanks for the input, if I find anything definitive I'll be back and let you know.

this is spanish silver and would normaly have a pentagram or something else beside it but could have been rubbed of through use.

is that a real pearl?  Nice find, the tube (or trombone) clasp most likely indicates it was made in Europe from 1890s through 1940s.  I vote 1940s.

I'm not sure what the 915 means, but that is stunning, if you plan on listing it will you please contact me with the listing number. I'm a sucker for brooches, I have metal allergies and can only wear brooches or a necklace long enough to go under my collar.

An umbrella and a mind have a lot in common, they both function better when open.
