USPS Missent... Now what?

Just got a message from a buyer saying the tracking number for their item just says missent.  Anyone seen this before and know exactly what it means?  Missent is a bit ambiguous.  Is the item going to be coming back to me?  Is their a chance they will still get the item?  TIA

Thanks for that info ~ I don't use eBay shipping labels for FedEx because I have a Fed Ex account.

From what I have read on the Community Boards, buyers dislike SmartPost because of the longer delivery time, but from looking at your DSRs it seems to work for you.

Every single item I have had shipped to me via FedEx Smart Post has taken WAY longer than it should have, I hate that service and will not buy from sellers who insist on using it, and I know I'm not alone in my feelings.

Exactly. I really don't know what's "smart" about tacking another 3-5 days onto delivery time....I always have an "Aw, shoot!! " moment when I see SmartPost in tracking info.  Trouble is, a lot of sellers don't indicate WHO they are using ship when you go to buy.

I have the same situation in Houston. Tracking says that the package arrived at my post office on Friday, then says "Missent." I haven't receeived it, and tomorrow will be the 6th. This means that when the package arrives, it got from Tennessee to Houston faster than the 1 mile from the post office to my home. They should start doing background checks on these postal employees before they hire them.

Yup. This happened to me too. Got a notification yesterday it was missent and hopefully I still recieve my package

Missent simply means your package was sent to the wrong place, but no worries it will be redirected to the right place.

Missing means that the item was put on the wrong delivery truck to another local.branch and should be resent back to the sorting facility and sorted out within 24hrs and sent back to your local branch them shipped out once more for delivery to you

I called the Post office when this happened to me, they can tell you more when you speak to them. I don't know why Buyer's don't have Informed delivery. That is just lazyness on there part. With the Post office you never know. And right now there is different carriers and some are new or? Mine did come to me, but I called the post office to make sure. I think it was sitting at a different post office.
