While others have responded correct info, goods coming from overseas have to clear customs at the first US port of entry and from there it is then sent to its final destination, airpods are usually targeted by US Customs as there have been numerous fake items being brought in. While you may have purchased a "refurbished" item, which it think was rather cheap for refurbished, here is some additional information from US Customs website.

It takes about 3-5 days for low value international goods to clear through US customs, as long as there is no problems. You might want to check with the shipping company to see if there is any problem.
