Don't give feedback to sellers until they give it to you.......

Time and time again, I buy something on Ebay, I pay immediately with PayPal, and the seller does not give me any feedback until after I leave it for him first.

This is agains Ebay policy I am almost sure. A bit ago Ebay changed policy so sellers could not leave "retalitory" feedback, that is giving a buyer bad feedback who paid quickly, just because they gave well-deserved bad feedback for a good reason.

This ruined the feedback system for ebay, making it useless.

Now, apparently most sellers simply hold off on giving feedback as long as possible. Are they hoping the buyer gets tired of waiting? Are they hoping the buyer simply slips up and leaves it before they are supposed to?

Whatever the reason, there is no GOOD one for not leaving positive feedback for a buyer that pays lightning fast with PayPal. The buyers job is done at that point, and done very well.

Then it is up to the SELLER to pack the item well, ship it promptly, and have the item be as described in the auction.

If the seller screws up or sells something that is not as advertised, then they damn well deserve bad feedback so that the next buyer can be informed of the bad apple.

So in a nutshell, if you are a buyer on ebay, lets start holding that feedback back until the seller does what they are supposed to for a prompt-paying customer. And if they do not leave feedback, lets report them to Ebay so the feedback system is not compromised as it once was, and so buyers can be properly informed of a sellers performance when they are shopping.

Thanks

As i say to so many people in a very sarcastic tone " WHAT EVER YOU SAY DEAR " maybe you only care if it is a Negative but i care on all types of feedback as that shows if items arrived or not....I like to know that the item finally reached its destination and the only way is for the seller to message via the ebay site or leave feedback......if you dont care about the items reaching your bidders, i cant help that.     Have a most wonderful and lovely day

Re: Don't give feedback to sellers until they give it to you.......

I saw yoiur comment on the feedback and i may have a suggestion for you. I dont do as you do and leave it all at once....What i do is once the package is made up and i contact the seller to say it has been shipped with custom form numbers etc, how about leaving the feedback at that time and then you have never got to do a thing until you receive feedback and then you can delete their file in your email, the auction in the sold folder in ebay and pictures of their package ( if you go to that length ).....If you have people that do not pay up within 2 days after close, send a non payer alert so it is on their file...You see if the bidders want to use the feedback system to their advantage and help them, then we sellers have to use the ebay site to ours.....Go or sign  into your ebay page. The place to find the non payer alert is as follows: Scroll down to the very bottom of an ebay page and you will see the words resolution Center ... Click it and in in the first square at the top you will see the words  " haven't received my payment yet." Click on that and then copy and paste the auction number in the space provided on the next page that shows.....Then click continue and then enter it....It will be on ebays files and also will be a mark against the bidder until he or she pays...Once they do pay, the case will close automatically....However when you ship this item, DONT LEAVE FEEDBACK as if they were the type that you had to send a non payer alert, the chances of you getting something good in the feedback are very slim and you will have a bad mark against your name....Wait until they do what they want to do and if it is positive, just say transaction FINALLY COMPLETED...That will say everything to people that look at the feedback...It will tell others that the bidders are slow payers and to either block them or cancel their bids if they bid on anyones items. As the bidder can leave the negative, we have to find a way to retalliate but with no profanity and leave it positive....If you do get a negative, ring ebay up and explain the transaction. You will be put onto an account specialist and maybe all can get fixed... Due to ebays rules of neg FB disalowed to be given by sellers, i either wait for FB to be swent to me and i return the favor or i just forget about it totally....make sure you use the blocked list to your benefit... If a bidder gives you trouble once, dont allow them to give it a second time...BLOCK THEM!!! You will also find bidders that have multiple account names on their adress etc.....Please if you find any of them, do not allow them to bid on your items....I know of one family in Alabama that holds close to 20 different id's on my blocked list and they just make more....I cannot say anymore due to ebay laws....All i am saying is be very careful on the unscupulous people on this site.

DONT LEAVE PEOPLE LIKE THAT ANY FEEDBACK....THEY DONT DESERVE IT!!!! After all everyone says FB is not cumpolsary so , do as they all say.....Just watch your back on here...I must say that possibly for 1 bad ebayer there are 1000 good people out there who are great to do business with....If you get feedback blackmail and it is in ebay messages, just report them to ebay....Ebay will have that message to look up and view for themselves. The people that threat will have their account limited if not blocked as it is a huge violation of ebay laws and regulations......Please remember , you have to do unto others as they do unto you and not do unto others as you would like them to do unto you because you have to protect yourself......I know i did not have to go to this length but i hate seeing someone screwed and they cannot fight back.....JUST USE THE EBAY SITE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE IF YOU RECEIVE THREATS FROM BIDDERS......Good Luck.....Hal

Re: Don't give feedback to sellers until they give it to you.......

You like to say it your way mate, but I totally disagree with you. I am only a buyer on ebay and I would like to inform you "honest" seller that my last experinces on ebay has turned me down. 30-40 % of my transactions on ebay looks like horror stories.

Orders never received, orders received after 40 days after paying for express (est. del time 7-10 days),receiving used item when description said NEW,and so on...

I have done more than 100 transactions and I have received only 42 positive positive feedbacks. It does not really matter fo me.

Yes you are right when you say feedback is and always was voluntary and that is not stated anywhere that sellers must leave first feedback. BUT you are missing that it is a really big "disrespect" to the buyer. I think that a positive feedback is just your "thank you to the buyer for shopping from you".

Actually, after a small experience on ebay,I already know that after payment,if the seller does not leave me positive feedback, something is going wrong...

In 90 % of my bad experiences, sellers did not leave me the FB after payment. Where they expecting what?

Are you buing an item or feedback??

Yes,I am buying item not fedback, but feedback is our face in this huge shop called ebay.

You know what? I would pay more for the same service as yours with better behaviours. Be sure there are a lot on ebay.

Ebay must show the feedback policy of sellers in their status.

"As a seller I don't leave it first anymore"-"As a buyer I would never buy from you".

I am not really worried if some selleres have given it up because tomorrow some other sellers, more intelligent, and not "Chuck Norris" style will come and will be succesful on the Ebay market place.

Good luck in your sales...

Re: Don't give feedback to sellers until they give it to you.......

As you say you would not buy from me, let me say that would be my pleasure...OK.....If bidders dont want to leave feedback, all i can say that they are totally rude.....They expect us all to read their minds and know when items arrive......Personally i have left many many many thousands of feedback with a lot in return however there are a lot of people that just dont leave any and we have no idea if the items arrived or not.. I have also experienced that bidders want items going to a different adress than stated in their ebay account because they are way too stingy to pay more shipping from their end. At the beginning ( in 1999 - 2000 )  i did this and helped the seller but it only took 1 person to ruin it..They wanted their friend to receive the goods and i sent it to them...Then they left negative saying the items never were received by the original buyer....Of course they were not received by the original buyer or bidder as they wanted the 3rd party to get them direct.....Now i do this for nobody at all.....You see as i said above, it took only 1 rotton person to destroy it all for everyone...But there again i am wrong in your eyes and i have to do what the bidders want...(said  in a condescending tone ) Actually i dont have to do as the bidders want because the items will go to the adress in the ebay details and no where else... Take note that all this has erupted from people in ebay ever since the abolishment of sellers being able to leave neg or neut FB.....Why should anything turn you down 30 - 40%....Arent you sure on anything that happened....??? . I do prefer to leave FB first as then i can see in my sold folder all has been completed...However now if someone has to receive a non payer alert, the FB goes in there once i have received from them....You see if some people are such slow payers and expect deliveries to be lightning fast, do you think that is fair??? I actually rang ebay and asked them to work my account that a non payer alert gets automatically sent once 48 hours and 1 minute has expired after the end of the sale...That way ebay will have it on record and i am in the clear....If bidders dont want the alerts sent and going on their account record, it is easily fixed...PAY WITHIN THE ALLOTED TIME LIMIT THAT EBAY STATES....I know you will dissagree OIO

Re: Don't give feedback to sellers until they give it to you.......

I still don't get the point of view on why a seller could not give a positive feedback right away for an Ebay transaction after the buyer paid for it. My point of view it's very simple, the role of the buyer it's to pay for the item on time, you as a buyer are buying and paying the item on time and you should be judged only for that when we are talking about feedback. As a buyer you could not do anything more or less than that, just bid, win or buy, and pay for it on time and you should only be judged on that for a feedback. It's very simple, you as buyer could not do anything different. The same applies to the seller, what else the sellers needs from you as a buyer after you paid the item on time. You as a seller already get paid for the item, you already delivered the item, and what else do you need from the buyer before giving a positive feedback, the answer is nothing. You as a buyer will wait and reviewed the item that you just purchased and then will give a feedback based on the description of the item, quality, condition, performance, etc. If the item purchased it's not as described or if it's defective you have the right to complaint and also have the right to leave a negative feedback for the transaction. I don't understand why the seller thinks that it's the buyer problem if the item it's defective or have a problem, it's a seller problem and the feedback issue should not be in consideration from the seller side, that's the price to do business. The buyer did his part of the deal paying on time and is the seller responsibility to back up his sale with service and quality in order to receive a positive feedback. This is not a buyer problem but is always the buyer who pays for this illegal practice and is the one who needs to wait and sometimes ask more than once for a positive feedback when he actually did his part on the deal. You as a buyer never ever get punished at the local store every time that you go for shopping. You liked the item, you paid the item and you have the item, if you don't like the item I'm sure that you will not purchase the item or change your mind on the item, and if you ending purchasing the item and it's a problem with it you will go back to the store an the problem is fixed. The same rules should be here, you paid for the item, you did your part as a buyer and you should get a positive feedback. You as buyer should be never ever punished with what I think it's an illegal practice from the sellers and from Ebay that it’s waiting from the sellers to get a positive feedback only after you left a positive feedback for them. I still not getting the point why Ebay and the sellers doesn't understand the buyer side, for me it's very simple, buyers should pay on time and should be judged on that and sellers should back up their sales with service and quality, just like every local store. For me it’s very simple and very clear.

You've never sold anything on this ID; do you have another ID for selling? If not, please walk a mile in a seller's shoes before you tell us how "simple" things are. There are a dozen things that a buyer can do AFTER paying that would make a seller want to refrain from giving feedback, and possibly consider reporting the buyer. Sellers get ripped off every day by buyers who've paid. If a buyer receives the item, swaps it out for their own broken one, and files a SNAD complaint, why should that buyer have positive feedback for the transaction? If we took your advice, they'd have it.

No thank you.

Re: Don't give feedback to sellers until they give it to you.......

sargentoahlr - if bidders would leave feedback immediately they receive the item like they expect the sellers to do immediately they receive the payment, then everything would be good...But i have experienced over the last few years bidders dont leave feedback at all..I then wait 90 days and after that, delete all information on them and add their usernames to my blocked list..The few rotton people in this world have now made it hard for everyone...Personally i contact the seller via ebay so ebay has it all on record and when the bidder leaves feedback for the me, i then do it for them.....My sold page shows item paid and sent and when the feedback received is filled in, i know everything is completed...if the bidder does not want to leave feedback, then why should the seller...i experienced a person once give negative because the stamps on the outside of the package werre not in a straight line and a bit off centre.....Do you think that is worth a negative???? ON TOP OF THAT, BY BIDDERS LEAVING FEEDBACK , IT SHOES THE SELLERS THAT THE ITEM ARRIVED...AS MAJORITY OF BIDDERS WANT TO BE SO LOUSY IN THE FORM OF SHIPPING THE WANT TO PAY FOR WITH NO INSURANCE OR PROTECTION, THE SELLERS HAVE NO CHOICE THAN TO NOT LEAVE FEEDBACK....IF PRIORITY MAIL WAS USED, THEN IT CAN BE TRACKED ONLINE AND SELLERS CAN FOLLOW THE WHERABOUTS OF THE PACKAGE.......By the way ebay has this all on file but i would not expect you to realise that....I do not have shares in this company but i know when a seller ships the item out and the bidder receives it in good faith , that the sellers deserves feedback to show it arrived safely. had the few nasty ones in ebay realised that fb is the only way a seller knows it reached it destination, then this subject may not have arisen over the last few months,,,,But as the saying goes, it only takes one rotton apple to ruin a case of fruit....have a most wonderful and lovely day ( said sarcastically ) .....OIO

This gets more hilarious every time you post it. You block people who conduct a flawless transaction with you because they don't stroke your ego. Your competitors must love you, since you're driving business their way.

And you STILL do not understand the very simple concept of posting ID's. And, as the cherry on top, you think people will read your rants and have a laugh at the expense of the low-feedback posters (who know far more than you'll ever know).

Priceless.

I took a good look at your listings. So educate me, Mr./Ms. Walton: your average sale price is around $1, and your average shipping charge is around $2. Let's assume for now that you get your items for free, just to keep the arithmetic simple for you. Of that $3 average payment you get from your buyers:

  • How much does eBay get?
  • How much does PayPal get?
  • How much goes in your pocket?

I'd estimate that you get to keep around 80 cents per transaction (again, assuming you COGS is $0.00).

Show me the math.

Thats ok what you said but when a bidder places negative feedback because the stamps on

the outside of the package are not exactly in a straight line or too much tape is used, how would you feel.

It is not against ebay policy because leaving feedback is not madatory it is optionala dn the seller nor the buyer has to leave feedback and niether should be pressured into doing so.

You state you dont leave feedback until you get what is ordered and it is in good shape...What if you bid on a comic book that was lightly folded on the top corner and it was stated in the description???? I sense you only look at pictures and do not read sellers details.....hense your statement of  "  i dont leave a feedback till i get what ordered and its in good shape "

How can that be in good shape when the seller went out of their way to note it in the description and you still bought it...

have a most wonderful and lovely day
