Amazon Key has arrived. Will eBay follow suit?

Frankly, I refuse to let any carrier do this, but over all, do you folks think ebay should and will do the same?

And the next innovation will be the amazon add on burgler stun device included with the key service.

There is no way I would let ANYONE that was not my family unlock and open my door because we lock the doors for other peoples protection. My german shepherd attack guard dogs would savagely maul and most likely kill anyone that walks into the house without me or my daughters with them.

Amazon Key has arrived. Will eBay follow suit?

Since eBay does not distribute items, I don't see how they could follow suit.

i wonder what is the issue with companies like Ebay, Amazon and "shipping" is...

most of my FC mail arrives in 2 to 3 days.

i have shipped 20 pounds boxes to Florida from NM and they arrived safely within a week max.

i have shipped well over 1000 packages (ebay and others) within the last year.

not even a single package was lost, damaged, stolen or misdelivered.

knowing that many packages are left on front porches or in mail boxes.

kudos to the USPS.

i am a buyer.

as long as i receive my purchases, i am happy.

even if it takes a little long i am fine.

tracking allows me to check the shipping progress.

that is all i need.

if i want it fast i pay for overnight.

i feel Amazon is going a little over the board with shipping.

first drones, now people unlocking your front door.Smiley LOL

Hey, lets let random unknown delivery people into my house when I'm not home! Sounds like an awesome idea! What on earth could possibly go wrong?

I think Amazon would be opening themselves to massive liability myself. Just my thoughts. Why would they not just do something like provide a large lockbox situation on a customers property. Give the driver a key to that. Could probably even sell a subscription that includes it or a rental fee.

There was an article in today’s Washington Post (owned by Jeff Bezos) absolutely trashing Amazon Key. Pretty amusing.

How many Alexas do you think Amazon will sell after this publicity?  Not the Key thing, just more Alexas and whatever other add-ons are available and make sense.   Makes me curious and want to investigate the system.

As stated before, there is far more going on here than the let-a-delivery-person-in-your-house-or-not thing.  News of which was released riiiiiight before the holiday buying season.  Hmmmm...

I love the Washington Post; read it every day like the old days - touching it at the table with a cup of coffee.

But no thanks, I'll pass on that one.

No chance of that happening at my house. There is always someone home to receive packages. You cannot trust anyone these days. With ebay, anything is possible.

They could get a program with carriers or institute it with the valet

And they get bit by my dogs or a coral snake by the gate or something, then what? What could possibly go wrong.

I could see Ebay coming inside to help themselves to your checkbook, they are already pretty good about that.

that remains to be unproven, as suspected in another thread by myself and many others, I feel they do distribute many of their highlighted "deals" covertly.

If you are not personally escorted in by either myself, my husband, or our daughter, our 125 lb. Giant GSD will make lunchmeat out of you. The Lab, Boxer and Chihuahua mix will just lick you to death.
