Monthly Chat - November 8th at 1:00 pm PST

Join our monthly Community chat with the Seller Advocacy Team to get your questions answered about these tools and more on Wednesday, November 8th, from 1-2 p.m. PT.

Create posts, get detailed data, and more with the Social page, now available to all sellers

Earlier this year, we launched the Social page in Seller Hub, making it easy for Store subscribers to create custom posts by connecting their eBay account to their social accounts. Now, the Social page is available to not only Store subscribers but all eBay sellers in Seller Hub.

Save time by linking your Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest accounts and create custom posts that’ll delight your customers and drive traffic to your listings. You can also post to multiple platforms at once and get insights into the traffic you’re receiving to your Store, listings, and other eBay assets from social media.

Get started now with our step-by-step guide that’ll show you how to link your Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest accounts.

Spotlight coupons on your storefront

We’re making it easy for Store subscribers to highlight active promotions by rolling out a new Sale tab on the storefront. This tab will feature all your coupon sales in one place, and make it easier for buyers to find your sale items. With this update, your coupon offers will automatically be front and center on your storefront—helping turn browsing visitors into happy buyers.

More details

  • The Sale tab will automatically appear for store subscribers who’ve created at least one promotional coupon offer.
  • We’re exploring ways to include other promotions, such as markdowns, under the Sale tab in the future.
  • If you want to create a coupon offer that’ll show up in a Sale tab on your storefront, visit the coded coupons page to get started.

Send offers for multiple listings at once with the eBay app

You can now send offers for multiple listings at the same time on the eBay app. In the past, you could only send offers for your listings one by one. Now, you can save time on the go, target interested buyers, and boost your conversion rate by quickly sending offers for multiple listings.

Get started

To send offers for multiple listings, just go to the Active page within the Selling tab in the eBay app. You can send offers when a listing has one or more interested buyers who satisfy a number of conditions. When you have more than one listing that's eligible for offers, you’ll see a quick filter called Send Offers-Eligible. Just apply that filter to see those listings and send your offers.

For more information on sending offers for multiple listings, check out our Sending offers in bulk help section.

What you need to know

Our goal is to build an intuitive, effortless listing experience that helps you get your items up and running as quickly as possible. With this in mind, we’re rolling out new AI-powered features to help you create high-quality listings that showcase your items, starting with item descriptions and photos.

AI-generated item descriptions

AI-powered item descriptions are now available to all US sellers listing in most categories in the eBay app. This new feature can save you time by suggesting an attention-grabbing item description at the touch of a button. You can use the suggested description as-is, or easily customize it to add more detail, adjust for accuracy, or fit your business’ unique voice. Try it out today to get your listings up and running faster than ever before. We’ll be expanding this feature to desktop in the coming months.

Improved background removal tool

We’re upgrading our background removal tool, making it easier than ever to showcase your item on a white background and increase your listing’s chances of standing out.

With just one tap, our improved tool will seamlessly create a white background for your item image, without the need for any manual editing or touching up. The improved background removal tool is already available to all sellers in the eBay app and anywhere you use the advanced listing tool, and will be expanding to desktop in the coming weeks.

We are in Q4, which, for many of us, is (usually) the best time of year for sales. Will the Social Media team be adding any new social media site in Q4?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques Thank you for your question! We are focused on developing our tools with our current social media platforms and don’t have Q4 plans to add additional ones. Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest are popular for sellers to showcase their brand, and for buyers to browse for shopping inspiration.

"Previously eBay tested offering final value fee discounts in some small markets, and we are currently looking into ways to improve the experience before we offer to sellers again. We know this is an exciting feature for sellers, and we want to get it right before rolling out further"

So, it it currently being tested in any markets?

(As usual, your competitors are beating you to the punch here...I hope ebay realizes that many ebay sellers are multi channel, and that means, sellers may choose to use social media to point to the site offering the discount, not the site that is still trying to figure out how to do it.)

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques

As of now we do not have any insight that we can share on our testing and its phases as well as locations but once there are updates to be shared we will be sure to let sellers know.

Re: Monthly Chat - November 8th at 1:00 pm PST

Simply posting items for sale to Social Media is universally viewed as a poor way to attract followers.

So, two questions:

1. If ebay's Community Team and the Social Media Team got together, surely they could launch a Discussion Board here dedicated to Social Media discussion, where sellers could talk about different tactics and strategies. Is that something you are working on?

2. Is ebay planning to eventually give us the ability to post other stuff to our social media sites, or will this tool be confined to posting links to our listings, promotions etc...rather than actual "content", such as recipes, how to info, etc

If I post one photo to Facebook via ebay's Social media tool, it is archived in my Facebook Photo Album.

If I post multiple photos, as the tool now allows, none of the photos are archived in my Facebook Photo Album, which reduces the value of the tool considerably.

Is ebay working with Facebook to correct this?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques  Thanks for the question. When posting from the Social page, you're creating a clickable carousel product post that links back to your eBay listings (instead of a photo album), so it is a separate format that doesn't get filed in your Page's photo album.

Reels and Stories...basically, video....is a vital part of today's social media scene. Will ebay be adding the ability to upload video to IG and FB this Quarter? If not now, when?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques We are looking into many features that all of the social media platforms have to offer and we want to give our sellers the best opportunities to showcase their items as well as their storefronts. We will be sure to let sellers know as we roll out new features next year!

So you are saying, no, you won't be doing anything to change that. Understood. Thanks.

RE: item descriptions

What is necessary in the item description section.  I tried the AI tool and it essentially wrote a word salad with a repeat of what I had used in the item specifics.

I've always filled out all of the item specifics and update them each and every time eBay makes a change,  (I suppose this is the wrong time to bring up how much extra time you cost me when you hid some of the item specifics from me while listing an item only to add them to a list of listings that I needed to update the item specifics)

If this word salad that AI creates is just repetition, what good is it and why not use the time and effort to put in some information that might be useful to the actual buyers.  (size chart) (Fit types) in my case clothing?

Why is this AI important in eBay listings?

To piggyback off of @my-cottage-books-and-antiques 's question - once the Sale tab is actually live, when will eBay add other promotions like markdowns?

For reference, eBay already has one consolidated page where all types of sales and promotions are displayed, so it shouldn't be too difficult to integrate with this existing data to populate that tab.

https://www.ebay.com/sme/SELLERNAME/offers.html

Yes, what she said. Also order discount promotions (B1G1, etc), shipping promotions which are all controlled through promotions manager. Will we see those added in the first half of 2024?

Why are order discounts never referenced in eBay's language about the sale tab? It's exclusively about coupons, with markdowns some time in the future.

GLORIOUS!

Confused about the switch to eBay discounted shipping? Read this discussion to make an informed decision about opt in / opt out.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques Thank you for the questions! We can talk with the Community team and look into the use of Community when it comes to social media strategy!

We are exploring many options when it comes to the use of social media and hope to continue utilizing different platforms as we look forward.

With this update, your coupon offers will automatically be front and center on your storefront—helping turn browsing visitors into happy buyers.

More details

  • The Sale tab will automatically appear for store subscribers who’ve created at least one promotional coupon offer.

  • If you want to create a coupon offer that’ll show up in a Sale tab on your storefront, visit the coded coupons page to get started."

I created a coded coupon on Monday, ran it through last night. NO Sale Tab.

I was preciously told that, despite the fact that the Fall Seller Update says this feature is launching in September, 2023, it will not actually launch until Q1, 2024 or even later, because adding a tab to the store home page is "complicated."

So, is this actually live or not?  And if not, when will it be live?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques

Thanks for trying this out already, we love that you are eager to have the Sale tab. It is getting close to live and will start showing up over the next couple weeks.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques ,similar to Q4, we don’t have immediate plans of releasing additional social media sites. If a new social media site is launched in 2024, we will be sure to inform our sellers of an update. We appreciate your questions!

"Start showing up"? Does that mean a gradual roll out? Or will everyone get it at the same time?

With all you are doing wanting us to draw buyers to ebay, why do you think the quarterly stats just don't reflect and increase in the number of buyers?
