Waiting for the Big One

I keep reading posts about the hoops people are jumping through when in the MP sign up process, they are rejected for some reason or the other. People are sending pictures of voided checks, routing numbers, statements, Photo IDs, spouses names, etc. Just read the posts, if you don't believe me.

Don't think for one instant, the hackers of the world don't know that this is going on, a MASSIVE shift on eBay of sellers gravitating to a new system and are exposing their info on the web because of it. Not to mention,  eBay's 1.3 million sellers now have ALL their personal information stored in one, handy spot, OFFSHORE nonetheless, in the EU.

All of this is a hacker's dream come through. Don't think they don't know and don't think they aren't working one it.

What a massive coup it will be, for the first one who hacks the eBay's sellers' database.

If it happened once before, it can surely happen again, and this time, it could be THE BIG ONE:

Date: May 2014
Impact: 145 million users
Details: eBay reported that an attack exposed its entire account list of 145 million users in May 2014, including names, addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords. The online auction giant said hackers used the credentials of three corporate employees to access its network and had complete access for 229 days—more than enough time to compromise the user database.

The company asked customers to change their passwords. Financial information, such as credit card numbers, was stored separately and was not compromised. The company was criticized at the time for a lack of communication with its users and poor implementation of the password-renewal process.

there is a huge amount of money in data collection, whether legitimate or not.. unfortunately for the rest of us.. I know during the pandemic some sites that were doing delivery were hacked and there are class action lawsuits pending for exposed data

It is the truth.

What many (some posting here) don't seem to understand is that the hackers have NO INTEREST in stealing the money that's in your bank account. One poster here even said, basically, so what? You're not responsible if you lose the $595 in your bank account.

But, the hackers don't want the few hundred dollars in your bank account; they want your  information, and they want it clustered (SSN, bank account, address, birth date, etc.). That's much more valuable.

Identity info can be sold and used again and again. To wit, the unemployment fraud over the pandemic to California was $11 billion, much of it generated from out-of-country hackers who had ID info and made claims en masse, the money then going abroad,

Doesn't really matter; Between Experian and Equifax successful bad guy hacks, over 160,000,000 American's info is already out there.

Not to mention Target, Home Depot, Blue Shield etc. etc.

The average American Adult has their entire life history and info on at least 6 company servers. Banks (old and new), Credit Cards, Insurances (home, auto, medical).

The 'big one' already came. When Credit Reporting Companies get hacked, they have more of your info in one place than anyone.

Ayden is the company that is MP:

They also are and have been a target since their inception. They are also the company that handles payments for a lot of other companies.

While this is somewhat true it is still not a grand idea to pass off your information.  Some have managed to avoid the scams by not giving it out at every turn.  You mentioned Home Depot and Target but they in no way ask for your SSN.

No doubt, security online is an issue for the future not just the present and agree it is hard to keep a secret.  Somewhere, google and such have all your data stored since you signed up.  Not comforting thought but it is still no reason to give info out and allow eBay to DIRECT access to your banking account.

How many of you are sick of them changing or lowering prices without consent?  You then have to physically go and change them back to a price you can actually make a profit.  MP is allowing Ebay to make every single financial decision for you.  Others with managed payments do not go nearly as far as the company is currently doing.  I am interested in seeing how this all turns out.

The truth of the matter is this goes higher up than eBay in that some want complete control over all transactions with nothing being able to fly under the radar.  Small sellers are toast here.  Nobody will tell you this but your plight is hopeless so it is time to figure out a new way of doing things.

If you do ANY business on line you are at risk. ANYONE can be hacked. What is the alternative to that? Keep it at home? Oh, wait no. Then the hackers are called burglars.

Any bank

Any credit card

Even pumping your gas with a card is risky.

I’m not going to live my life in fear of what could happen. Post like this are gloom an doom. Hey a Meteor could hit you in the head too.

So what is your solution?
