The overwhelming cause of cyber attacks is the fool employee who opens a viral attachment in an email. There is no cure for stupid.

Re: Hunker Down

Of course cyber attacks are here to stay, but the encryption a company uses is the firewall against them.

So if this is another scaremongering post against eBay's MP you should be aware that Paypal were hacked twice and eBay only once in 25 years

The only time it happened was in about February / March of 2014 Ebay was hacked.  The site was hacked.  The hackers were able to get the passwords on quite a few accounts.  However that is encrypted information and the hackers were never able to break the coding, so they never got to our more sensitive information.  So no one lost any financial info and Ebay did have some as sellers put in auto payment information for the Monthly Seller Invoice and some sellers had credit cards as a back up funding source.  But the Ebay security held up to this attack and sellers were no worse for the wear.

Glad you mentioned the sun and introduced it into the conversation.

Because, meanwhile, we're all whipped up into a frenzy and supposed to be worrying about the "existential crises" of climate change which will destroy the entire Earth in exactly 10 years.

Cyberattack? Hack?

Meh. Just coast along like there's nothing to see.

Re: Hunker Down

It's those companies own fault. There is NO reason for those computer systems to be connected to the internet. They use it because it's a cheap way to inter connect. There are a lot of other ways they could use but they cost more.

Next, if they had some people to back up off site and not by the internet they could restore those encrypted files.
