Newer Mattel Tiny Tears, one eye is sticky. Can I fix this before I give her to my granddaughter?

Purchased on eBay because I want my gd to have the doll I loved most at her age.  I didn't notice the problem right away but her eye doesn't open and close well.  I have read to try sticking a needle up around the eyelid, sweeping back and forth or using canned air to blow out any foreign particle.  And I wondered if some WD40 might make it looser?  She looks like she has never been played with at all.  Her body/head are perfect from 2003.  Any ideas to try before I wrap her up?  It's too late to get another by Monday 😞  She is plastic, not porcelain.  s-l1600.jpg

Don't use WD40. It might remove the face paint and damage the plastic. I would leave it as it is.
