Hi Amy.
Well, since you asked....
Unfortunately, I'm not doing very well right now. I inherited my dad's dislike for doctors, so I didn't make it to the doctor until last week.
I had thought that I had a dislocated hip. It turns out that it is much worse than that. The long bone between the knee and hip (the femur) connects to the hip in a ball and socket connection. The ball part is at the end of the femur. It turns out that the ball of my right femur broke off completely. The orthopedic surgeon that I saw yesterday says that since I waited so long that it no longer an emergency but rather is now "elective surgery".
He is booked up until September, so I have to wait at least six weeks before he can squeeze me in for hip replacement surgery. I'm really looking forward to that - NOT!
I will try to post from time to time as long as the pain medicine holds out.
On the bright side (?) I did manage to make it to my friend's funeral with a broken hip.
So, how are you doing? Better than me, I hope.
Dang Southern,
Your all messed up sorry to hear that. Cant you go and see another specialist. Would be better for you. Get the operation done and over with. Instead of making it get worst. I would be afraid of losing mobility in my hip. leg. Thats very serious stuff their playing with. I hope you feel better. Glad that you got to go to the funeral even though its a sad day.
Will be looking forward to your posts. Take it easy.
Well I havent mentioned it yet. But Im 4 months pregnant. Its a difficult pregnancy. Just taking it easy.
Nice to see you again.
Hi Amy.
First things first. CONGRATULATIONS! I am sorry to hear that you are having a difficult pregnancy. Just make sure to take it easy and do exactly what the doctor tells you to.
I appreciate your concern about my condition. If I were to change surgeons at this point, it might delay the surgery and I am anxious to get it over with. You would be surprised at what all has to be done before they can do this surgery.
Last week I had to go to the doctor for some tests (bloodwork and a UA). I had a "slip and fall" accident while I was there and I have been feeling it ever since. All of the blood tests came back normal, so I guess that is good news. I also have to get a medical release from my dentist and I am sure that they will think up some other things that I have to do before the surgery.
At the moment I only have 27 days to go. I think (hope) that I can hold out that long.
Once I have had the surgery, I probably won't be posting here for at least six weeks but I will be back.
Hi Southern, Thank you.
this time I havent listened to the doctors and so far so good. Im just having blood pressure issues plus fibroids. Which seems it has passed i guess. i will only have regular checkups. None of their meds.
I can see your point. Waiting not so long now to wait.
Oh my friend your having the worst luck so sorry about the slip. Just what you needed more pain.Thats great news the blood test were normal one less thing to worry about. I hope not you need a break. dentists should be okay praying that it will be.
I hope and pray all goes well for you. cant wait to see post again we'll be here waiting for ya.

I saw them about the time that vid was made... they're old, but they can still play (what's left... it's just Donald and Eric these days... Alan Lanier had retired, and he died this year).
Amy, Congratulations! You take it easy, and take care of yourself.
Bill, I hope the hip situation is on track and moving forward, and you're doing OK. Just when you're sure there's no hope for society and music, there is Guy Davis... interesting guy, and great player.

Alice Cooper is has a gig as late night radio DJ here now, and played a couple Kenny songs on his birthday, and relayed a couple of interesting stories. I guess Alice and Kenny used to do the celebrity softball circuit, Alice was saying Kenny was a great pitcher and threw really hard, and Alice was the only one willing to catch for him... thought it was sort of a funny softball team pairing...

that is funny, I am just getting over seeing Kenny signing from way back and now hearing he was hangin' out with Alice Cooper.
Almost like Pat Boone wearing leather and hitten' the metal scene. It takes a minute to adjust.
One of my daughters went to a 3 day camping concert over Labor Day Weekend. So we have been singing this one since she got back:
