Gift card

I have a gift card balance but am unable to use it at check out.  I redeemed a GC but now for some reason the EBay system did not move my balance to the check out area.

Ebay has all but done away with gift card use on this site.  It's been that way for months now.

What kind of gift card? eBay? Visa Vanilla? Some other kind?

How do we know that? Has there been an announcement that I missed? Or have they "all but done away with" only certain kinds of gift cards?  

Am asking because I have several from Christmas that I would like to use.

It seems that only the ebay cards themselves are being accepted, and only in certain circumstances.  

They aren't accepted as a 'selected payment method ' on offers or bids, for one.

I don't know of any ebay announcements, but these days they don't seem to announce much. 

They just enact new policies and wait for us to find out as we go.
