In situations like that, I try to identify my intentions. When my
response to a sincere question comes from any desire to demean, I know
without a doubt that the aftermath of a moment of feeling a sense of
superiority is not at all worth it.
There's no reason to hate telling the truth. If it's described as one
thing and it's something else entirely, there's no reason to deny it. It
is what it is.
