Question about printing postage

I am a very infrequent seller and I have a question, hopefully it isn't a stupid one.

If I print postage off Ebay to save a little money, can I print the postage on a regular piece of paper and tape the postage to the package?

Thank you !

Tammy

Re: Question about printing postage

That's the only way I print labels. I'm a cheapskate, so I go further & use paper that is already printed on one side, usually old reports from my full time job.

The nice ladies at my local PO complain if I tape over the big bar code, tell me not to do it.

Re: Question about printing postage

Certainly! For infrequent sellers this is an easy way to attach ebay labels. I've been doing it for years. It takes three strips of clear tape to completely cover the label.

Except for the bar-code -- it's easier for USPS to scan the bar-codes if they are not covered over by tape.

Re: Question about printing postage

I've been taping over the whole label for years and never had an issue.

Re: Question about printing postage

ALWAYS cover the whole label, bar code included, with clear packing tape.  One tiny drop of water on that label and it will smear and run into an unreadable mess.   I've been taping over inkjet printed labels for over two decades with no issues whatsoever.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: Question about printing postage

Yes, just print on normal paper & use clear tape around the edges & even on the return/ship to address. Nothing wrong in using the proven old school method!!! 🙏😎✌️

You do your way.

I have always covered the label 100%. The barcode readers are a tad more advanced than they were 20 years ago......

Never, had a lost package. probably 5000 shipments over the years.

When the ink runs and labels get messed up, that is when packages come up lost.

@southern*sweet*tea

Several of my local USPS counter workers have personally thanked me for NOT covering the bar-codes with tape.

They've told me that covering the bar-code with tape makes it more difficult for a fast scan -- especially if the ink is not dark enough.

So, yeah -- I'll keep on doing it MY way.
