Need some help with shipping information

Hey, there. I'm new on eBay so I'm not exactly sure how to proceed here.

I bought an item from Moscow, Russian Federation and when I check the order details it says 'No estimate available'. When I click '+Show shipping details', this is what I get:

Last scanned date N/A
Package location
Shipping status Shipping info received
Shipping carrier Other
Tracking number [my tracking number here]
Delivery message N/A

'Package location' is blank. Shipping service is listed as Standard Int'l Versand. Also, forgot to mention that I live in Brazil.

When I go to 'My eBay' and then 'Purchase history', the same tracking number is shown so when I click it this is the information I get:

Tracking #: [my tracking number here]

Carrier: Other

I bought this item with a credit card on March 11 and payment was approved a few minutes later. On March 16 I received the email from eBay with the title 'SHIPPED: [name of the item here]'. With the following information:

Estimated delivery : View order details and contact the seller for more information
Shipping service : Standard Int'l Versand
Item # : [number here]
Transaction id : [number here]

Now I have no idea what's happening here. I don't have the estimate delivery date or any other information that assures me the item was indeed shipped since the tracking number doesn't seem to be useful. It's been 5 days and there's no update on it.

The seller has a 98.7% reputation, with 165 positive, 0 neutral and 2 negative feedback. He's a member since 2010.

With that being said, I'd like to ask:

1. In case I never receive this item, how long do I have to ask for a refund?

2. Did that ever happen to any of you? If so, did you ever receive the item you purchased?

Sorry about the wall of text, I tried to give as much detail as possible.

Re: Need some help with shipping information

Here's the text of eBay's MBG. Please read it carefully. No matter what a seller's return policy may be, the MBG will trump it in the case of an INR or SNAD. Not only that, but SNADs also require the seller to pay for return shipping - which, though, can be problematic if the seller and buyer are in different countries.

One other thing: a seller with 98.7% feedback is not good. While as an experienced eBayer (this is just my posting ID), I may sometimes buy from a seller with 98.7%, I do not make a habit of doing so.

Re: Need some help with shipping information

Hi There,

NO WORRIES BUDDY!! First off I Would Like To Say WELCOME TO eBay!  Regarding The Sellers Feedback, Yes It Is Good To Look At Sellers Feedback But Dont Really Go Too Much Based On That As Some Buyers Here On eBay Are Jerks & Will Find Any Ways To Leave Negative Feedbacks On A Seller Just To Ruin Their Reputation! Believe Me I Have Been There As I Was Once Myself A Seller! Now, I See That Your Item(s) Was Shipped Internationally. With That Being Said, ALOT of Items Being Shipped Internationally Dont Come With A Tracking Number. When Your Item Says That Its Been Shipped & Is On Its Way  (Internationally) You Will Want To Wait Until The Estimated Time Arrival As ALOT of These Items Shipped Internationally Are Shipped By Airmail To Your Destination So Pretty Much Just Wait Until The Estimated Time Arrival Date & If You Dont Get It By Then, Give It 5 More Days After That & If Still No Item Received Then Simply Call eBay & Tthey Will Get You Your Money Back For This Item UNLESS You Work Something Out With The Seller First! Keep In Mind That ALOT of International Items Do Get Lost During Transit From ALL The Process That It Goes Through! Hope I Helped Solve Your Inquiry Today! Have A Good One & Welcome To The eBay Family!

Re: Need some help with shipping information

No need to call eBay for a simple item not received. Go to your purchase history, scroll to the item and then on the right side chose "More actions." Remember that eBay only gives you 30 days after the last estimated delivery date in which to open a case.

Re: Need some help with shipping information

About the 30 days rule, does it usually take that long to receive an estimated delivery date for international shipping? Also, I searched the policies about eBay Money Back Guarantee and found this:

"A buyer can report in My eBay that they didn't receive an item once the item's latest estimated delivery date has passed, and for 30 days after the latest estimated delivery date."

And also:

"When we have no information about the actual delivery date, we use the latest estimated delivery date. When we have no estimated delivery information, we consider the latest estimated delivery date to be 7 days from payment date for transactions between a buyer and seller in the same country, and 30 days from the payment date for buyers and sellers in different countries."

So it's safe to assume that I have a maximum of 60 days after March 11 to get my money back in case something goes wrong, right? I know that the policy seems to be very specific about it but you never know. Fine print and all that, thought it would be smart to ask the community for a double check. Better safe than sorry, hehe.

P.S.: Thank you takikawa4 and argenisg for you replies! Hopefully it wasn't a hard task to understand what I've been trying to say since English isn't my first language.

Re: Need some help with shipping information

Hi There,

About The 30 Days Policy. Ok So The Way It Works Is That The Seller States In Their Return Policy How Long You Have Until You Can Ask For A Return. Some Sellers Offer Only 14 Days To File A Return & Some Offer 30 Days To File A Return & Some Can Offer 60 Days To File A Return. You Will Have To Check The Sellers Return Policy To Check How Many Days They Offered To File A Return. For Example: Lets Say That Your Seller Offers 14 Days For Their Buyers To File A Return For A Money Back or Exchange. Lets Also Say That  Today Is 3/21/17 & You Will Recieve Your Item On 4/10/17 (Estimated Time Arrival). Your 14 Days Will Start On 4/10/17 Which Is When Your Item Arrives Meaning You Have Until 4/24/17. However, Your Item Can Arrive Earlier Than That, Lets Say On 3/31/17. You Will Then Have 25 Days (3/31/17 - 4/24/17) To Return Your Item Because Even Though You Received Your Item Before 4/10/17, The 14 Day Return Policy Will No Matter What Start On 4/10/17 & End On 4/24/17.  Now, If You Dont Get Your Item By The Estimated Arrival Date, Then You Can Give It 5 More Days OR You Can Go Ahead & Ask For A Refund By Choosing 'Item Did Not Arrive'. I Hope I Didnt Confused & Hope I Helped You Understand The Return Policy A Little Better. Just To Inform You, Around July 2017 ALL Sellers Will Be Required To Upload Tracking Info On ALL Their Items Making ALL Transactions A Little Safe & Reliable & Less Problems! Hope I Helped You Understand A Little Better & Your Most Definitely Welcome! Have A Good One!

Re: Need some help with shipping information

Hey there,

I just checked the page of that item again and it says 1 month return policy and 'Buyers bears the cost of returning the goods', but that's for returning. Since it's a metallic item which will most likely be intact, I don't think I'll even need to worry about returning it.

My concern is with 'item not received' as takikawa4 commented. So since there's no estimate delivery date it seems eBay considers it as 30 days for international shipping unless an estimate is provided before that. And then I have an extra 30 days after the estimate delivery date to get a refund for item not received. Right?

Re: Need some help with shipping information

Unfortunately, the other poster (argenig) has given incorrect information. A seller's return policy has NOTHING to do with eBay's Money Back Guarantee.  Sellers can have a 14-day, 30-day or no return policy at all. This policy only has to do with remorse returns. The MBG has to do with an item not received or item not as described.

You should have an estimated delivery date. Look in your purchase history for it.

Re: Need some help with shipping information

Hi There,

So I Just Got off The Phone With An Account Specialist From The 'Trust & Safety' Team Here On eBay & We Discussed Your Questins & I Had Her Look Into Her Resources & I Have Your Answer. NO You DO NOT Get An Additional 30 Days. So As I Was Saying Was Right Except Its With 30 Days Only. Here Is The Answers I Got From The Previous Specialist (Jenn) On eBay 'Trust & Safety' Team.  So No Matter What, Each Customer Has 30 Days To Request A Return From The Seller(s). Here Are Some Examples: So For  Lets Say You Want To Open A Return For A Domestic Item Shipped. According To eBay Policy, For A Domestic Return You Will Have 30 Days After 7 Days Has Passed From Purchase. So Lets Say You Purchase An Item Today 3/21/17. You Will Then Have To Wait 7 Days To File A Return Which Is On 3/28/17. On That Date Is When Your 30 Day Time Frame Starts. So Since You Have 30 Days To File A Return, Your Time Frame To Do So Will Be From 3/28/17 - 4/25/17. That Date Will Be Your Last Day That eBay Will Help You Open A Return Case. If You Decide That You Want To File A Return After Your 30 Days Has Passed Then It Will Be Up To The Seller If He/She Wants To Initiate A Return For Your & If They Say No Then eBay Will Email You Saying The Seller Declined Your Request For A Return. Now, As For International Returns, I Explained That You Were Asking If You Have A Full 60 Days To Request In Return. After She Further Reviewed In This Question She Was Able To Provide An Answer For Me To Tell You. So For Domestic Purchases You Have To Wait 7 Days After You Purchase Your Item Until Your 30 Day Time Frame To Request A Return Starts. As For Internatinal Items Bought, You Will Have To Wait 30 From The Time You Purchased Your Item Until You Can Request A Return. So Once Again, Lets Say You Bought Your Item Today 3/21/17. You Will Have To Wait 30 Days From Now Until You Can Request A Return Which Will Be 4/19/17. On This Date Is When You Can Request A Return & You Can Do So At Any Time During Your Time Frame Which Will Be From 4/19/17 - 5/18/17. Now, I Explained To Her That You DONT Have An Estimated Time Date & We Both Found That Weird As There Should Be One BUT After Looking Into It, As I Mentioned You Will Have To Wait 30 Days From When Your Purchased The Item Until You Can Request A Return. So For Domestic Items You Have To Wait 7 Days As Its Know On eBay That For Domestic Items It Could Take A Maximum of 7 Days To Arrive & As For International Items Its Know On eBay That It Could Take A Maximum of 30 Days To Arrive. Keep In Mind This Answer Im Giving You Is From An Account Specilialist on eBay. She Also Wanted Me To Tell You That If You Have Any Other Questions Please DO NOT Hesitate To Ask or Even Call Them In & They Will Gladly Look It Up & Answer It For You! There #: ( I Hope NOW You Understand Clearly & Sorry For The Late Response, I Just Wanted To Make Sure Your Question Gets Answered So I Called This In For You! Hope This Resolved Your Inquiry Today! Have A Good One!

Re: Need some help with shipping information

And, unfortunately, some of THAT information is also incorrect. You do NOT have 30 days after purchase. You have 30 days after the last estimated or actual delivery date. Period.

Once again, please read the link I provided to eBay's Money Back Guarantee. It tells you EVERYTHING you need to know.

Re: Need some help with shipping information

Hi There,

That What I Mentioned Sir. If You Dont Mind Re Reading What I Stated I Did Provide That Information There. I Basically Said He Can NOT Start A Return Until After 30 Days From The Time of Purchase! Thank You!  With All That Being Said Provided By The Account Specialist & Myself. I Now Think Its Best If We Move On From This Concern As I Will  Now Consider This As Resolve Unless I Hear Back From The Buyer In Need of More Help. Thank You For Also Trying To Helo Out The Buyer(s) Here On eBay! You Have A Good One Sir! Bye For Now!

Wrong. You have until 30 days after the LAST ESTIMATED OR ACTUAL DELIVERY DATE in which to open a case.  I've reread your postings several times and each time it is wrong. Once again, using today as the purchase date and 3/31 as the last estimated delivery date, you can open a case with eBay for an item not received on 4/1 until 4/30.  If the item arrives on 3/25, you can open an item not as described from 3/26 until 4/25.

Read here a while and you'll learn that eBay's customer service is often wrong.
