Anyone followed through on an incorrect label update?

I just rec'd my first one of these where they say I owe them.  Almost $10!  I've had a few of these, but they've always been credits, usually just a couple of ounces difference.  It says that I paid for a PM label , but used a LFRB.  I 100% did NOT use a LRFB.  I didn't use a box at all.  It either would have been a poly mailer or a PM tyvek.  99% chance it was a tyvek.

If you've run into this, how easy was it?  Did you call the number or do the email dispute?  Also, do they have a photo of the pkg?  Will they be able to look & see the pkg so they know it was in error?  Or do I need to be prepared for a fight?

TIA.  I'll be out for awhile, but will check back later.

Re: Anyone followed through on an incorrect label update?

Wow, just an update in case you all have this same issue.  I called the number that @wastingtime101  so graciously provided & more typical USPS bovine you-know-what.  Lady keeps telling me "it takes a minute", I keep pointing out that it's been over 3 weeks & their own confirmation email says it takes normally 2-5 days, sometimes up to 15.   She tells me they get thousands a day & we go back & forth.

Anyway, the upshot is that the email dispute does NOT start the process!  It's only an email, then it has to be "put in the system", which is what starts the clock.  She put it the system for me & now the 2-5 days up to 15 will start.  Arrrgghh.  All while repeating that "it takes a minute", I keep repeating that it's more than a minute, it's been 3+ weeks LOL.  Anyways, it's now officially in the system (I wonder how long it would have taken if I hadn't called) & she said the course of events is that they notify eBay once it's been adjudicated & eBay should notify me, but I'm free to call back if I haven't heard anything in a couple of weeks.  Are we having fun yet?

Not looking for advice, I'm just posting how it works for the next person who comes along.

Re: Anyone followed through on an incorrect label update?

That's correct @simply-the-best-for-you . Sending the email does not start the appeal. It alerts USPS you want to file an appeal. It's a manual process so whoever mans that email has to review your info then file the appeal. Once the appeal is filed they make a determination within the published timeline.

The only time I've ever had to wait 2-3 weeks before they started the appeal was:

1. When APV first launched

2. During Covid

I had one I tried to appeal 1 day too late (thank you stamps.com for not notifying me and I happened to spot it on my account) and within 2 biz days someone from USPS replied and said too bad, you're too late (a day late). 🤷

That said, most of the time it's all processed quickly so I'd say your case is out of the ordinary. Perhaps you happened to hit them when they had a large volume to get through, or perhaps they missed yours. Like I said, it's a manual process so there is room for human error.

Let me know if eBay alerts you to the credit, or if it appears in your account without an email from eBay.

GLORIOUS!

Re: Anyone followed through on an incorrect label update?

Just an update, I'm glad to know this went smoothly for others like @wastingtime101  but jeez, what a hassle!  So apparently the person I spoke to the other day DID enter it into their system & I woke up to 3 emails from them this AM that they closed the Dispute.  3 emails & NOT ONE OF THEM told me whether it was approved or denied!  So, I had to call AGAIN & was told that it was approved.   So, good news, but I know I wasted more than $9.44 of my time dealing with this LOL.  It is not in my acount yet.  I've made a note to check in a few days.  IDK how long that part takes.

I gotta laugh at some of these people.  I suggested to the APV specialist that it would be great if you're gonna spam me w/3 almost duplicate emails, that you tell me what the outcome was.  She's like 'oh yeah, it's weird cuz it's automated'.  Ummm, yeah, being automated & telling me the outcome are not mutually exclusive LOL.   Anyway, hopefully this is done now.

It's interesting that most people get a quick resolution.  I wonder how much longer it would have been had I not checked here & called them.  It was already well over 3 weeks.  Anyway, thanks so much  Wasting for ALL of your help!

Re: Anyone followed through on an incorrect label update?

Finally completed, almost a month after I sent the dispute in.   Once USPS found in my favor, the $$ were back in my acct on eBay within 2 days.

@wastingtime101  You wanted to know, so fyi, there was no notification from eBay, I just looked in my acct & saw it.  Glad this is finally all done!
