how to get zoom feature for photos of your listing

Hello,

Sorry if this question was asked already. I couldn't seem to find the answer and hope you can help me. Some listings have photos where when you mouse over the photo it zooms in. How can I have the same for my listings?

Thanks much for your help!

To get mouse-over zoom feature for the eBay hosted Gallery Photos

in upper left corner of listing...

(1)

Make sure that Picture Pack option is checked PRIOR to uploading images,

(this should already be "pre-checked" and is FREE for most listing categories).

(2)

Uploaded photos need to be LARGER than 500 pixels on longest side

for the zoom feature to work,

(for best results, preferably 800 to 1600 pixels on longest side).

FYI:

Photos taken at 2 megapixels, 4:3 aspect-ratio, and NOT cropped,

or at 3.5 megapixels and square-cropped will be optimally-sized for

eBay's Picture Pack zoom feature...

(1600x1200 and 1600x1600 picture dimensions, respectively).

Only certain categories have free zoom features. Collectibles and Antiques are two that have free zoom in. On other listings check the box for it before adding photos.

Thank you for your answer. I have some follow up questions.

1) where do I find the pre-checked option? I do not see it anywhere. My items are listed under Dolls & Bears. Is it free to have zoom feature for that category?

2) how can I determine if my pictures are longer than 500, 800, or 1600 pixels? Sorry, I'm computer illiterate. I just took the pictures with my cell phone and use them in my listings. Do I have to turn on some setting on my phone?

Also, I received a message from Ebay telling me to change my pictures because the pictures do not conform to their requirements.

Thanks again.

Look for an Options menu for setting resolution and other features

when camera is activated / on to determine picture-dimensions taken

by your camera phone...

The pictures taken by your phone are not longer than 500 if you're getting that not meeting the requirement message.

As for the zoom it's not a feature. All images that are uploaded that are 1600 pixels are able to be zoomed in.

If you have a setting on your phone to increase the picture size, you should change it. If you can't change it you will need to upgrade.

I don't know if this will help or not.  By now, you probably already have your answer, but this might help someone else.  On the "Sell Your Item"  page, there is a "Switch to Advanced Tool"  link in the upper right hand corner.  That is the link that will take you to the sell page that has the picture pack.

I have tried the simple tool and the advanced tool and I have tried it with Firefox and Internet Explorer. I can see NO option for Picture Pack to be checked.

This is frustrating !

Slynky333,
This thread is a little old. Picture pack is no longer a visible option on most of the uploaders because the option is now a built-in default. Most people who now fail to see Zoom on their listings have been using the Quick Lister tool. That tool has not correctly applied supersize and zoom for the past two months. Instead, use the link at the top of the form to switch to the Advanced (SYI) form. Even though you may no longer see Picture Pack on the Advanced form, it will still correctly apply supersize and zoom to photos newly uploaded on that form.

Thanks you for your reply.

I think I tried the advanced tool once but didn't notice any difference in ability to zoom. I would also say I hate the SHIPPING section of the advanced too (the simpler tool is much easier to use).

I shall experiement again.

Thanks again. :smileyhappy:

Sorry, I didn't see any pre-checked box for this option, even with the advanced tool. My photos taken at 5 megapixels. Would you or anyone kindly paste the screen and directions step by step on this platform so the rest of us know what to do. Thanks!
