best way to do price markdowns?

when I choose to markdown a price of something I normally hit edit item - but while cruising through postings sometimes i see that items have been marked down by 20% or 25% - how do I markdown an item and get  the board to show that my items has been reduced in price? thanXies for your help...

Go to Seller hub>marketing tab........click on promotions......on far right, click on create a promotion and then on Sales Event & markdown......

I'm not sure if you need a store to do this or not.........

You need a store do actually do 'sales' where it will show the price, crossed out and the new price with a 'save 10% (or whatever the price sale is). 

If you just 'edit' the price from $30 to $25; it shows nothing and will not; even for a store owner.
