Pay pal issued credit from buyer

I just got notified from Pay pal that they issued credit to a buyer for an item sold on 4/28/20,  over a month ago.   There was nothing from eBay or a problem with the buyer that I knew of.   So now I am out my money and the item.  I can't get an answer from pay pal.  Any help in understanding this would be appreciated.

was it delivered?  did tracking show delivered?

It sounds like the buyer filed a dispute directly through PayPal or a cc chargeback.

PayPal has somewhat hidden the Resolution Center on the new layout so you'll have to do some digging to find it, but the details should be there. Try logging into PP and selecting the Help menu then scroll down to find the Resolution Center link.

Is there a possibility that the email you got from Paypal got sent to your spam folder, so you never saw it?  Paypal does inform sellers when a case is opened against them.

I was thinking they should have had an email as well.

No, you are only out of the item, the money was the buyer's to begin with.
