My first SNAD scam

6 years with no problems, guess my time was due.

And I made every noob mistake you can make.

Sold a guy a bunch of little electrical connectors.

New in package.

My partner calls me, and said the guy just called about bad parts.

So I call the guy, and he says some are crudded up.

No problem, I will send out replacements.

But it may take a few days, we have flooding and the roads are closed.

He says no problem, no hurry.

He ask for my email, to send pics.

No need for that, it's only a few bucks.

So all communication was off ebay.

Then I said send pics, as I see no crud on my stock.

He sends picks of a crudded up item.

Then he opens a case, but he only uploads some of the pics to ebay.

Not the ones where he had used the product.

I say return for refund, no problem.

I try to put my address on the return.

but it must have defaulted to my partner.

Well it went to my partners folks home, where he lived 6 years ago.

So he calls and says he got the package.

The next day I refund.

But then I get to thinking, there is something odd here.

So I call my partner, and have him send pics.

The guy had installed the parts, then just cut the wires off.

And he shorted me one.

Sent back junk.

That was why I was in a foul mood, a few weeks back.

Soon I will start a real job, and my ebay days will end.

I could have won, but I messed up.

I will be working on the L-29 jet.

My ebay sales are so slow, it makes no sense to keep it up.

I had a basic store for 6 years and it worked well.

But for the past year I was not selling enough to cover the cost.

Shut the store down at the start of this year.

and went back to an individual account.

With the new job, I won't have the time it takes to do ebay.

But I will pop in from time to time.

Not shure when I start, they are lining up the next project.

Could be next week, could be a month off.

@rainbowcolorz

It was my first scam, bummed me out.

All my easy sell items are gone, and I am down to the super slow movers.

So I was winding things down on ebay, I may keep a few items up, not sure.

When I first started, I was a listing fool, new listings everyday.

When the bottom fell out, it was hard to get motivated.

I don't think I have put up a new listing in over a year.

Wow.  I'm sure it would have bummed me out too.   I'm trying to prepare myself for when it happens to me but I don't know how.

I was also a listing fool when I first started.  I went over my 50 free listings every month and just kept on putting more and more up and selling like crazy.   I think I paid something like 15¢ for each listing over the first free 50?   I also used to put up lots of photos when all 12 weren't free so I paid for those, too.

The bottom hasn't completely fallen out for me yet ... I'm still selling but not at all like it used to be.   I think I'm going to change the way I do things and start my listings on Friday or Saturday to give people who work time to get home and check eBay.  That and I just upped my return policy from 30 days to 60.  <sigh>

We'll see what happens.

I wish you the best of luck.

Well, I could have fought it, but ebay being the way it is...

I still had the money in PP,, so it was no big deal.

I did not know he had used them until after I refunded.

Don't blame buyers for all of Ebay's problems. Bad Sellers are running off buyers as well. And Ebay itself seems to chase off plenty of buyers and sellers alike. - 96

Re: My first SNAD scam

So I take it, you're all done with eBay also. You know what they say...

You can teach a monkey how to fly an aircraft but not to fix it.
