Magazines

Is it legal to ship magazines using USPS media mail?   It appears many sellers do this, but certainly not all.  My research into USPS rules suggests magazines are not allowed to ship by media mail since they have advertising in them.

Re: Magazines

No... and for the reason you state. They contain advertisments.

No, you cannot mail periodicals no matter how old.

That is true, but any item that has been mailed at the USPS special "periodicals" rate is not eligible for subsequent mailing via MM.

Re: Magazines

I don't understand what you wrote. Are you saying that something mailed as bound printed matter or mm can't be mailed mm?

Confused.

Re: Magazines

The "Periodicals" rate is used for publications that come out at regular intervals such as magazines. It is not the same as MM or BPM.

Re: Magazines

Nope. A lot of people don't know that however.  After all, you read them like books.

Re: Magazines

No it's not allowed. And if I had a seller mail them to me that way, I would open the package at the counter of USPS so they could back charge them. I'd also leave the seller negative feedback.

It's NOT allowed, and anyone gaming the system needs to get pinched. It costs all of us sellers.

You are correct. They do not qualify for media mail.

Those links tell that magazines (typical magazines with ads in them) do not qualify. What, in any of those links, indicate that magazines can be shipped media mail?

Re: Magazines

Re: Magazines

...magazines are not too bad...I have seen eBay packages which contained thin folding clothes sent through Media Mail...some were able to pass through the processing, but at the end of delivery if mail carriers could notice the violation, it will be sent back to sender with a notice of Postage Due...
