Fee's

Ebay insatiable lust for money has propelled them into becoming the world's largest and most profitable greed machine on the planet. Apparently ebays shareholders are never satisfied with their grossly huge profits . Continually adding more fees and costs to use their platform. The latest brainstorm is managed payments.  As if their ridiculous selling fees weren't enough now they hang onto the sellers profits for 3,4,5 days before distributing to the rightful owner. Collectively with millions of sellers these 3-5 days undoubtedly rack up millions in profits from interest alone. Will this greed machine ever be satisfied? Doubtful, money is the root of all evil and greed drives the heartbeat of ebay. Unfortunately it's also turned a once fair win win business into a complete ripoff. Very sad for sellers.

Most recent year end Net Income (after taxes):

Apple - 94.6 Billion

Microsoft - 61.2 Billion

Google - 40.2 Billion

eBay - 5.6 Billion

eBay has a long way to go to reach the top of the list!

Re: Fee's

Yes. They even charge a fee for collecting the sales tax for the government at your expense . They need to charge a fee for collecting the fees from you and then another fee for coleecting those fees and still another fee for collecting that fee until they've collected all your money from the sale. Or most of it. Try talking to the ones imposing these fees. You'll never get past the non english speaking probably poorly paid out of country phone firewall they have put in place

That is so incorrect and simply ridiculous.  I understand the frustration that we often feel like we are taxed to death.  But the real facts involved in this specific subject we are NOT.

We do NOT have any fee that is on top of other Ebay fees.  We pay an Ebay fee for the sales tax a buyer pays.

Re: Fee's

When the new fee structure was announced, we were told it would be cheaper than the fee schedule paid to eBay and PayPal.

A few months later, they have announced a new fee increase, which now means we pay much more than we did a year ago.

Not to mention paying fees on taxes and postage.

I miss the old days when we paid to list items, but only paid 3-5% in fees.

Sellers have been paying FVFs on shipping / postage for almost a DOZEN years now.  It amazes me to see this subject come up again and again as if it is a new thing.

So you feel Ebay's costs have not gone up in the last 25 years?  They should be able to charge what they did in the beginning and still make a profit?  Would you want to be one of the employees earning what you were earning 25 years ago today?

When we went into MP you are right, they said we'd save money.  But what it ended up being was a lateral move for most of us.  While it was a little higher on some sales it was much lower on others.  Over a months period of time it ended up being pretty neutral of a change.  Most however only concentrate on the transactions that cost a bit more and refuse to see the larger picture.

The one fee increase that was announced last year was in the clothing category, not for everyone.  Still a impact of course, however many of us were unaffected by it.

Now today, in the Winter Seller Update they are announcing a fee increase that takes affect next month.
