When you end a listing, then relist it, when did they start giving it a new item number and shows it as a new listing?
Before, it always kept the same item number and start date.

I thought that's how it has always worked. It keeps the same number when it rolls.

Before I would end a listing for a few weeks, then relist and it always kept the same number.
I know if you use sell similar, it would give a new number and start date.
I didn't know if it was something new or I just haven't noticed it in awhile.

Not if it is ended, only if it rolls over as @fern*wood said

Few years ago, on one of the sites I used to have, I had my items listed on there and linked to my Ebay listings.
If I needed a few extra listings, I would end some of the older listings, then relist them a couple weeks later and never had to change the links on my site, because the item number stayed the same.
I know when it rolls over, the item number stays the same.

If it ends for OOS and you relist, it keeps the same number.
If you "end" the listing yourself and later relist, it gets a new number.

I use the OOS option, so that might be why it kept the same number when I ended and relisted, don't know?

OOS it does and they keep it resident to change tge quantity, relist etc.
We turned off OOS for this reason..
Good luck with it - have a nice weekend!

I like the OOS option for returns, then I can just change the zero back to 1 or add to existing number of items left.

If that's the case then i'm pretty sure it was a coincidence.
When you end a listing and re-list (sell similar or relist) you always get a new item number.
When the item "rolls over" after 30 days it keeps the same item number.
I know this because i have all of my items stored by the LAST DIGIT of the item number.
I have 10 storage areas areas numbered from 1 to 0.

I am 90 and have no computer skills. I tried to sell something but it did not dell and no one was interested so I would like to stop the listing. But can't figure out how to do it.
