Adult only categories being eliminated

eBay just announced that they are completely eliminating the adult only categories. Some items can be listed in a very limit list of other categories in the general area, and all of those seem to be open to interpretation. So basically those of us that have been using eBay as our sole selling source are now out of business. Anyone have any ideas?

eBay has more than jumped the shark... it's shot themselves in the Holy Grail.

Somehow I'm not surprised by this. It's a society now offended by anything. Another product of the cancel culture, SJW, snowflake agenda. Ebay is no longer going to be the place to find unique hard to find items. Every day it feels more like they are trying to be Amazon.

As you may be aware, eBay has announced that they are ending the adult DVD, Magazine and several other categories on June 15, 2021.  Many sellers, including myself have worked very hard to build our businesses in these categories just to have them ripped away from us.

I am asking that you call eBay customer service and file a formal complaint about this matter.  The number can be found by clicking Help & Contact at the top of most pages, scrolling down and clicking Call us, and then any of the next 2 choices will take you to the same number.

At the very least they should give sellers 90 or 120 days to liquidate and/or find other selling venues. 30 days is nothing.

This policy is too vague.  Technically, anything that shows a nipple could be banned.  This isn't just material previously listed in Adults Only.

From the new policy:

"eBay defines nudity as showing any part of male or female genitalia, anus, or female breasts where the areola or nipple is visible. The following are also considered nudity:

  • Modeled clothing that is see-through or very tight and shows human genitalia, the anus, or the nipple/areola of female breasts
  • Male erections, even if the model is clothed
  • People engaged in sexual contact or activity"

"Sexually oriented materials, including items containing nudity and displays of sexual activitys, are not allowed. This includes the following:

  • Adult films and video games with a rating of X, XXX, R18, or unrated for an adults-only audience"

So technically, any R-Rate movie is intended for adults only.  So what about an Unrated Director's cut of an R-Rate movie?

Let's take  the movie Showgirls for example.  It shows breasts and nipples.  It shows scenes of simulated sex.  It has an unrated cut.

Per the published policy on E-Bay, is the unrated cut of Showgirls now banned from being sold on E-Bay?  Or what about a film like Boogie Nights.  Imported version of Boogie Nights are rated R18.  It shows breasts and scenes of simulated sex.  Is it now banned from E-Bay.

And how are these two films any different than other movies like Sex Hex, The House On Hooter Hill, etc.  Sure, they are B-movies that feature female nudity and scenes of simulated sex (and they are generally unrated).  But they also generally have a story or plot.

Who is on the censorship board at E-Bay that is going to say it is okay to sell an unrated copy of Showgirls, but not okay to sell an unrated copy of Blondes from Beyond?

This is some straight up Nazi Book Burning censorship out of E-Bay!  It's total **bleep**!
